xdrive35i sitting the x5 xdrive35i it’s
clear to see why this really is the
perfect car for Don Draper from Mad Men
I mean not only is it luxurious and
sophisticated but it’s actually really
practical too so his wife Betty would
probably use it as much as he would and
everything is right here at your
fingertips
there’s steering wheel mounted controls
and the new I Drive which functions so
much better than previous generations
the x5 x5 35i has so many features to
enhance your performance your safety and
your general driving techniques that
have probably taken me a couple hours to
tell you everything this car can do but
there are a couple features that kind of
stood out to me first of all there’s the
anti whiplash headrests there’s also a
hill descent control which is ideal if
you’re towing something heavy like a
boat or if you’re on a really steep
decline referred to by BMW as an SAV a
sports activity vehicle the x5 xdrive35i
really is quite sporty and active to
drive and I think that has something to
do with the 8-speed auto transmission it
also has a sport shift mode which lets
you control the gears and normally in an
SUV or SAV you might not want to do that
but in the vehicle like this you kind of
do because it has a sporty engine and it
has a lot of grunt has a lot of pull
driving the x5 is quite enjoyable but
for a larger vehicle it is quite quick
and that’s thanks to the inline
6-cylinder twin turbo engine that pushes
out 300 horsepower and 300 pound foot of
torque now it is large and that’s ok
because you want a vehicle like this to
feel big and to feel heavy on the road
it’s clear that the x5 xdrive35i had
some serious trunk space but what’s
really cool about this car is the fact
that you can open the trunk
electronically no matter where you are
with the key fob and that includes
sitting inside the trunk another cool
feature on this car is this pick up like
tailgate you can drop down for easier
access to the trunk and for getting out
when you’re inside like wearing a
business suit in the mud the x5
xdrive35i isn’t the ideal off-road
vehicle but what it is is a
sophisticated all-wheel-drive car that
is at home in the CEO parking spot as it
is the family estate driveway
