see here i am with julie for the
admitted Nations Food Program and she’s
here to demo a game that the UN has sort
of come up with to help educate kids in
the general public about some of the the
work that they do in the world can you
tell us a little bit about this game yep
first of all you go to food force Comte
is a free downloadable game the game was
developed specifically to teach children
about the issue of world hunger and how
wfp would respond to a crisis it’s
designed for children between seven and
15 it takes about 45 35 minutes to play
the game and we’re hoping to include it
in the curriculum of the scoreboards
throughout Canada as it is across the
world there’s been for 25 million
downloads of the game and it comes in
seven different languages the game
itself comes in six different missions
and each mission or each step is a step
that we would take in a humanitarian
crisis so so people could expect to
distribute food let’s say for example
throughout different towns and yet one
very good game or mission is where you
have 19 cents which is what it costs to
feed a child in a school feeding program
and you have to come up with a
nutritious meal and balance in the right
amount of new
in the mail and there’s a food drop from
an aeroplane which is my personal
favorite and then the last one is where
it’s like it sim city where you have to
distribute the food to sustain the
village so you might give a certain
amount of food to the school feeding
programs to the hospital food for
training food for work and you can see
how your village will grow so as the
game is we are not all about delivering
food and walking away we’re about
delivering the food and letting the
people build up their own community the
designated sites or children friendly
and there’s even teacher resources there
so as a teacher you can bring your class
to the site and work through a whole
program take it home and then download
it at home and play play there as well
this is pc and mac compatible that’s
fantastic and how could interested
gamers out there donate to you to your
find organization they can go to food
force com or they can they will be led
to a donation page or very simply the
World Food Program thank you very much
do it yeah
