of humor
this Italian company is well known in
the design world hi I’m Rebecca Brayton

the coolest kitchen unless he is a
company that’s about a hundred years old
in its industry and it’s based in
northern Italy its fame came about in
the mid 50’s to early 70s where the
company started accessing designers or
architects famous around the world to
design products for them it’s a very
close-knit family very dynamic people
very open they work with you they help
you pass on the message of how do you
want to portray their poetry of art and
art pieces what would you say is the
company’s mission to make their products
more fun more appealing to people than
just having a basic tool for the kitchen
it’s to give people a sense of design to
give people a sense of having an art
piece sculpture tell us about some of
the most iconic pieces in the Alessi
lineup the bird whistle teapot a very
big icon for LSC especially in north
america designed by Michael Graves the
whistle when the water boils it does
actually whistle but at the same time
it’s a great sculptural piece the bombe
tea set from Carl Alessi one of the
first tea sets that was designed by mr.
Alessi brought a new design in the
collection and a new typology of product
before that Alessi was mostly known for
its trays and its bread baskets that
brought them into another aspect
of the kitchen market the Richard cypher
expressive machine I was a first
stainless steel machine and not by screw
on it was my pressure snap so you had
two pieces where once you snapped it in
it it caused the vacuum in the in the
piece itself creating a lot of pressure
in the unit to develop a very good
coffee the energy very iconic piece for
Alessi the Lassonde man Dinis designed
the piece as a lady that will open a
wine bottle
it’s fun it’s it’s decorative it’s very
functional at the same time Philips dark
lemon juicer very interesting story
Philip stark when he designed that it
was invited to design other products by
mr. lessee and then while they were at a
restaurant discussing he sort of
scribbled on a piece of paper because he
was eating an octopus and took the shape
of the octopus and finally developed his
juicer so it’s it’s it’s an amazing
story for a piece that’s very simple but
at the same time function
of humor
