McCartney began the legal proceedings to
officially end the partnership between
the band members however by that time
Lennon and Harrison had already decided
to leave the group the band still holds
onto its superstar status even decades
after they broke up a compilation album
of number one hits was released in two
thousand and over 12 million copies were
sold in three weeks
