hi my name is Rhea Sinha and I’m 17
years old 11 years old that’s how old
mikaila Ulmer was when she founded me
and bees lemonade a company that helps
to aim save the bees she is just one
example of how my generation is changing
the world thanks to the power of
Technology and social media we can all
make a difference no matter who we are I
know because I have had the same
experience when I was young I loved to
write I wrote short stories poems and
even essays I self-published my own book
about twins that run away from their
evil babysitter to solve a family
mystery I was giving this book away to
my local book store when a girl who was
just six years old came up to me and
told me that because she had seen me
write a book at this age she now wanted
to as well at that moment I realized
that I could have influence on someone
no matter how much power or money you
have at that moment I realized I wanted
to empower more women to become creative
and to be themselves at that moment the
ATF refugio was born originally fuschia
was founded as a sort of writing Club
for women to come online and post their
work but it soon evolved into a site
where women can post any of their
creative work they post their art their
writing their poetry and as we chat with
one another on fusia many of these women
go back and become leaders in their own
community from the support that they
receive we need to empower every child
of my generation to take action and
champion for causes that they feel
strongly about I believe it’s the only
way we can solve the crazy problems our
world has today many older people look
to us and say hopefully it’s your
generation that could solve the problems
that we couldn’t and that’s because our
generation is full of activated leaders
we still need the adults
to be activated with us to mentor us in
order to truly make a change on the face
of this planet the planet that we will
ultimately inherit we are coming into
power but you are in power we need you
to guide us by sharing examples of past
failures and guide us by sharing
examples of your past successes as a
beacon of hope for what we can achieve
in the future kids have already started
taking a stand with the help of
incredible role models we have all seen
it in the news young people are leading
and inspiring millions and it’s not just
a few select young people or just those
who’ve been personally impacted by a
tragedy but it’s a joining together of
all young people who recognize the
opportunities that they have been
granted and the change that they want to
make in the world I have a fire lit
inside of me to be a voice of change we
still have girls traumatized around the
world if we took a moment of silence for
every time a child has faced violence we
would be silent for indefinitely long
but it’s not out of a reach to take this
pain and turn it into power thanks to
the power of Technology and social media
we can all protest for causes that we
feel strongly about and make a
difference and it’s imperative that we
do so or all squeal risk losing a lot
when I was young all I knew was that I
loved to write and I wanted to help
women I didn’t envision fusia as a
global connector that it has become
today we have over 15,000 girls on the
website and more than 3.7 million
followers on social media and I’ve
spoken at conferences such as women
Economic Forum and I’m here today
spreading my vision and mission of self
empowerment for girls and women I didn’t
plan it to be like this I’m simply
following my passions and I think that’s
what activated leadership is it’s the
small actions we take every day and we
don’t have to reimagine it it’s in that
it’s how we choose to pursue our
passions and helping the world thank you you
