so my genre began about a destructor so
I teach kids how to dance how to their
bodies and if they really listen to me
for a long period time generally takes
about 7 to 8 years they listen to really
work and really trying to apply
themselves I tell them I actually teach
them how to squat because dance is a art
form and the sport and activity that you
do where you are involving muscles in
your body that most athletes and other
sports other gymnastics no one uses
these muscles than a lot of dancers use
so I teach you how to use those muscles
to enable you to jump in the air to look
like your fly okay so everyone knows but
gravity is there keeps you down to the
ground
yeah so gravity is something that you’re
finding all the time it’s there just
keeps us grounded what we learn to do
things to make us look like birds on the
moon gravity and that’s by losing height
of this floor and jumping and jumping
and it’s landing now let me ask by show
of hands how many how many dancers do we
have good ghost good girls right couple
boys do now me being a boy good job but
it was a little bit difficult when I
started dancing I actually didn’t start
dancing
eighteen years old and people said there
is no way that you could become a
professional dancer starting to age of
eighteen years old I don’t look through
this info I know in my mind what I have
to do so I’m going to work my first and
see what happens within four years of
training but as a classical dancer I
made it into one of the top ballet
companies in the world and that’s
located in New York students on the
American Ballet Theatre so four years of
training when I see training I have
training from 9:00 in the morning until
9:00 at night almost every single day
because that was my passion
I used to love being on stage acting
singing dude musicals but I found ballet
which wasn’t until much later obviously
a team that took all the sports I ever
did I played football I did that’s the
light in baseball I’ve invested swimming
test everything it was all fun but I
also love possible music and I fell in
love with being on stage and entertained
I wasn’t very social in school and I
moved to a different location where I
didn’t know anybody
and when to me and so this is the way I
did I just press myself being on stage
taking to be another character it was
always easy to talk in a different
accent and pretend I was doing something
that no one had any idea what I was yeah
so it was a lot of fun but but I when I
found that let it combine both of those
love in athletic and also being onstage
combined together and it was a great
experience smell bad and they will be
after doing American our theater in New
York something I really did
I was able to travel the world I was
taken to different countries who
reported theatres and they were from
London two priests to complicated and
even the Far East we were in Japan
performed in Singapore saliva see the
world
Buenos Aires in Argentina there’s some
of the pictures there that and it was a
lot of fun we had a great time there’s a
lot of work involved but it was really
the passion that I found to do that was
weight greater than the effects a lot of
it so the effects in that the dancer any
top after baseball football our injuries
a lot of injuries I think all together I
had probably seven or eight ankle
injuries were at that surgery so in fact
my career-ending injury and grip the
hamstring which is the back muscle and
then I ripped another muscle and that
stopped me from Nancy but even in that
point I said I’m not done I didn’t I
didn’t listen to the doctors on your
liver and I knew I wanted Antonette well
I got almost there and then another
little accident happened where I broke
my ankle to the last time and at that
point the screws to hold it up so I
teach ballet I can point ones like the
other foot I always have to explain has
screws in it so I can’t dance but the
passion is still there
I can still teach when I teach the kids
around your age generally starts around
nine ten oh it is I explain my foot but
I’m still able to do things it’s doing
with my leg and show that the things
that I used to do and teach them how to
fly and they always think
God it would not see if he’d hit that
ability to jump in the air and stay in
the air and then jump leader again it
just makes everything worth it’s really
important time now we go back a little
bit of my history of trying to overcome
bigger obstacles when I first with us to
do this I was told that I go on through
many a persons in my life at first
everyone no adversity difficulties
things that happen yes I didn’t know if
that really met so I have searched my
head I think it well planned really
happy I know a lot of people who did but
when I started thinking and back of my
life I really didn’t like this to be
good did I
I was say a little bit my childhood us
at 3 years old my parents separated at 9
years old my mother passed away and then
at 12 years old my dad had moved back in
with us he decided to back out again so
for kids I told her brother’s an older
sister we’re left to live in her house
by ourselves so 1784 873 as I was 13 42
I could sing yes all of that sounds
great little parents telling you to
clean your room or make your bed and do
the dishes or or fix you feeling it come
to dinner and all that it’s fun for
maybe a week leave me like I’m going to
do that for you I mean you started
thinking well no one’s going to do that
moving an app start doing it myself so
in that learning experience through all
the hardships and the difficulties of
going through just what I thought was
normal I guess people would say we’re
different
so once I got into move I moved in with
my grandmother went to high school close
to Washington DC and there I met someone
because I really wanted to come up with
she was a girl it was really pretty
interesting Oh what I really want to go
up she would not be able to be at a time
of it but she said oh I have to go to
ballet class oh I have to go to value
look this is my class reasons so one
nation was really upset that each was
yelling at her because she did not turn
out
we just let’s turn out well she did her
leg your leg that I did my leg my leg
with twice as much as hers additionally
I have to come in and do ballet
well what do I have to I get in there
what do I have to do I have to lift
girls this is a parking hey you know of
anxiety and this is the Millea ballets
doing Swan Lake
[Music]
so that probably wouldn’t stuff I get to
do now this time here with someone that
I could relate to depends it was me this
right here is the stage so I’m actually
jumping in the air probably five to six
feet up and that’s why I’ve experienced
I did that and it was the most fun thing
you could possibly do to sword in the
air and land and go back up again or was
also fun lifting a girl throwing her in
the air
and then catch you or throw up the
spinner couple times and I’m catching it
was a lot of fun I really loved it and
like I said earlier I got to see the
entire world and performing great places
but one thing about the careers of an
answer like oh you maybe get to go to
college and do all that well
unfortunately the dancer if you’re not
in a company as a professional dancer by
the age of 18 you don’t you are not
going to become a dancer so that was
another added thing that I was told and
I had a teacher or an instructor in my
studio who is not a really nice guy he
was a great teacher
many many professional dancers but it is
a little mean and especially needed to
be for some reason I’m not quite sure
why but he would often did come by and
slap and hit didn’t call names and I I’m
not really sure you know to this day
really why that happened but one time he
hit me so hard while I’m standing here
balancing my stomach because of a little
kind of sweating and stuff like that it
made the loudest noise
and everyone stopped in the room the
girls were completely freaked out there
being a piano player who’s playing he
stopped so that time it hit bearish the
teacher a little bit I was didn’t her
just made a lot of boys so soon after
that I was used to all that again some
things the the girls actually lit in and
told the owners in the studio that it
wasn’t be nicely and because of that he
actually was let go from that school got
a fire yeah it was unfortunate because
it was such a great teacher but he
didn’t know how to teach the right way
most of the time so my goal as a teacher
is to be able to teach you the same
perfection and singing I just don’t see
the right thing all the time you know
your knees are bent or whatever I’ll
tell you what I think that I’m not going
to make you feel bad
that’s one thing that I really don’t
want to I want to teach you how to fly
[Applause]
[Music]
I teach kids how to dance how to their

about 7 to 8 years they listen to really
