okay so before I begin I would like you
all to enter into a Spring Break state
of mind everyone has just gotten off
from work or school and it seems as if
nothing could possibly go wrong for in
just a few hours you will be heading to
the Bahamas you hop in your car drive to
the airport board your plane and before
you know it you find yourself relaxing
on the beautiful beaches of the Bahamas
while laying there you begin to ponder
about why you are sitting in an enclosed
resort when you could be outside
indulging yourself in some real banging
culture I mean you did come all the way
to the Bahamas might as well learn a few
things right hi my name is Sabina creepy
as some of you might know and today I’m
going to testing with you the power of
travel what it means and how it hasn’t
continues to impact life past present
and future by dictionary the definition
of travel is to make a journey typically
of some length or a bra following this
textbook definition of travel and a busy
day today teenager I typically travel
somewhere every day whether it’s to
school the doctor’s office and friend’s
house sort of sporting event you can
find me traveling however while going to
school is a form of travel it’s it’s
usually naba comes to mind when I think
of this work for me and possibly many of
you in the audience when you hear the
word travel you instantly think of a
vacation or some type of getaway or
possibly even a service trip where you
will be going to a tropical region ski
resort or in some cases even another
country usually somewhere much different
in landscape and culture than our
surroundings here at summer
Jerzy and how do you get to one of these
exotic places using mass transportation
such as a plane train or in some cases
even a ship and not all forms of travel
are as luxurious as the ones the average
OpenAL teenager like myself may think of
in fact I know many students here OpenAL
travel to new places throughout the year
to help others to various service
opportunities in these opportunities the
people are indulging themselves in new
cultures while helping others but they
are also teaching and spreading
techniques use here in the US with naked
people in the regions in which they are
visiting this is one example of how
knowledge of cultures are spread today
but it wasn’t knowing that deep but it
was moving that easy as booking your
flight and traveling directly to your
destination in fact let’s take a look at
how at why at how and why people would
travel back in the olden days or in
early human life
so as previously stated travel is not
always had such a relaxed meaning behind
it and to understand how mine and
possibly your definition of travel came
to be we have to we have to take a look
back at the early civilizations of human
life both in present and pack both in
past and present dead a type of
Transportation has always been needed
for one to travel and while I’m
definitely not trying to turn this talk
into a history
and we do see the beginning of travel
taking place in hunter-gatherer
societies and these societies men and
women needed tractors to provide for
themselves or for their families they
needed to collect berries water hunt for
animals and goats and look for shelters
this being said they use their feet as
their source of transportation a slower
less efficient form of travel however at
the time it did get the job done to put
the hunter-gatherers lifestyles in the
further perspective parents how many of
you would voluntarily choose to walk all
the way down to the Jersey Shore to
collect some animal skins and various
for your children I’m sure none of you
would because in this day age we have
such advancements in transportation that
I love that allow transportation to be
accessible for almost everyone however
at the time Fiorella hunter-gatherers
had and fear all they needed to sustain
successful lifestyles between 4000 and
3000 BC animals such as horses donkeys
and camels were domesticated for travel
purposes these animals allowed people to
travel across contiguous land masses at
astir paces while also carrying more
goods with them but but still people are
birthing at this time still new that new
forms of transportation could be within
reach
near future in in 3500 BC in Mesopotamia
or otherwise known as present-day Iraq
the wheel was invented and would
continue to be adapted and improved and
will travel into school in a car or a
bus today you would think the
intelligent people of Mesopotamia for
creating such a substantial piece for
Humanity for wheels are constantly used
in everyday life today about 400 years
after the creation of the wheel the
Egyptians invented the sailing boat and
around the same time as this Romans
began building at-bats networks of
roadways across Europe with the
invention of the sailing boat and these
vast networks of roadways people can
travel from their own villages to new
ones and spread cultures and ideas and
this spreader and intermixing of
cultures is known as cultural diffusion
in the 17th and 18th century many new
forms of transportation or invented such
as the bicycle the tram the truck the
auto motor and the Train broadening the
travel world in ways we are most
familiar with today
in 1906 the first automobile was
invented changing the people of Earth’s
lives forever
in fact the 1900 is an iPod a period in
travel and transportation history for
was in this century that that
transportation such as the airplane and
the car were available at everyone’s
leisure behind me
Oh as transfer
can continue to grow people begin
traveling across continents world this
allowed through things such as religion
foods animals and other things to spread
across throughout Europe Asia Africa and
the Americas beginning the commencement
of worldwide trade behind me you can see
many of the diseases animals and goods
that were treated thanks to the
evolution of travel so hopefully this
information gives you a somewhat brief
perspective on how knowledge and the
ability to adapt helped helped bring us
to where we are today and trip in
transportation history in today’s life
in today’s life travel engineers to have
great impacts on humanity but are these
impacts always positive ones
[Music]
ok so now I will go through a few
questions or scenarios that may arise in
your head wall travel so to start just
think about it traveling to a new place
can be scary especially if one alone you
could be in a strange place not knowing
of the language and you could see no one
you recognized what first that adventure
that you may be looking forward to for
months begins to look not so good but in
reality when you think about it nothing
new ever looks 100% appealing right and
with such a bad sense in technology
today that if that where we have planes
and such it seems as if as if everything
will almost run perfectly physically it
may but mentally traveling can be very
stressful for people and Machado may be
daunting for some it allows you to step
out of your comfort zone as I’m sure
many of you in the audience know from
your own
personal experiences so if ever having
the opportunity to do so and travel to a
new place is very important that one
keeps an open mind travels much more
than just sitting on the beach and
relaxing all day it’s the opportunity to
strengthen your knowledge and make you a
more cultured person yes Nina Ligurian
22 year old she traveled from Morocco to
the US at age 17 says travel has the
ability to transform people’s lives
through one-on-one personal interactions
and expanding people’s horizons about
about different places and cultures to
break down stereotypes this quote speaks
very much to the overarching power of
travel and all it can do for a person
now you may be thinking why should I
spend my money on travel I mean can I
just go on Google type in French recipes
and create my own French cuisine
barricade a social optimist says trap
travel is a portal for an individual or
society into seeing the world in a
different way in our age there is an
illusion that would change in
transforming technology alone or through
concepts that’s a fallacy and the
reality is that the reality is that for
that change and for an individual in a
society happens through experience and
this experience is best obtained when
it’s a journey into the unknown
so although travelled Oh so even though
travel even though travel continues to
have great impacts so even with such
advancements in technology that allow
them to virtually indulge themselves in
your cultures today there truly is
like physically traveling to a new place
and although travel may be costly if the
opportunity ever comes if the
opportunity ever comes around for you
jump on it and let the power the power
of Travel transform you making you a
more academically knowledgeable and
cultured person for this has been proven
from hunter-gatherer societies to life
