[Applause]
how many of you have a bank account
nice how many of you get a pocket money
and get broke by the end of the month
ah so II people must listen to my
startin Rao
money management is the key skill for
everyone who wished to save their money
who wish to
a bank account who is to control their
could baddie spending habit
I grew up in a family that had filled
bucket of fear of money for fearful
money
my mother always challenged ourselves to
fight against hunger he never ate a lot
because of dream
of teasing me my father worked as a
teacher just to make enough money for
our fundamental needs
my grandpa he never went to his school
in
I ate a lot in every spend unnecessary
things on unnecessary things because of
the dreaming of owning more land by
saving trickling money
that was my parents opportunity to learn
from him about how to make a financial
plan how to become a financial
discipline and how to make a
responsibility he’s done within a family
he said he said a clear reason regarding
how to uplift his entire family out of
limited land and money to a very
prosperous family where we are leaving
now with a full of dignity
light or trustworthy saying in our
continent
oh he’s a fast first he school but
I learned the bell of money
yeah and on the one side of community
where our family was growing in a very
well manner because of team leader of my
grandfather and in another side of same
community I saw a difference between
people difference between juniors and
seniors and between difference between
lovers – the problem was everybody were
misguided by money and its practice
in this context I was taught that money
management is something key aspect of
life everybody felt that money is thus
very smart and wealthy people
when I was 14 some of my friends list I
was starting to fall in love
trying to rise in my pattern
I was trying to discovering on a
philosophy of mine
if everyone can learn early in school
about their personal finance they can
handle their money they can save their
money and they can be best utilize their
resources
discovering this philosophy many times I
ask myself come on man you got a human
life you need to do something crazy then
I realize I can’t be helpful for those
people who wish to change their mindset
of mishandling financial planning
by being their mentor
the biggest mistake that most people
make in their life when he when it comes
to their personal finances they do not
plan for it
I would like to say her own history from
Alice in Wonderland
in that story the cattails the alleys
that see only they see really they will
get somewhere as long as they work long
enough
however without finding a sultani you
may not reach the destination where you
want to go
and you would be directionless
after grade eight I was transferred from
my place to a quarter of my district
where I witnessed the wonderful quays
and within a people the standard of
living and their access to finance
I was impressed by all those system I
wanted to do a replication of same
things to my place too
I thought why I can’t learn these things
and make a plan to educate people
regarding house to use their personal
finance limited resources and maintain
unity in diversity according to me
financially literate is like being in
like being in a red nistrim try to jump
into the raindrops and eventually you
will get that drops hits all the people
at the same time after my high school
I was awarded by an opportunity of
collecting people collecting children
and youth to teach them about personal
finance I had only known a couple of
people we have supported my volunteer
work I still remember those 13 youth
you know it’s in a class and in lighting
them with the finest knowledge and his
phenomena I gave them the skills and
attitude to make a fine – to make them
more financial independence
most of the people to whom I have
maintained they have you started to save
how powerful compounding is
they started to save their money in buy
into the bank account
becoming more financial disciplined
in the beginning we faced a lot of
problem like collecting people
convincing people and these people
of pace to these people in spite of all
those hard sleep my volunteers and I
will always not to cease to leave but to
cease to do not to cease to our dream
because we are not in a condition to
cease to leave but we have imagined
together
during this moment someone questioned me
about my capacity and technical
liability
but I never forget to lead is that
wasn’t that was my passion i keep
continuing to work in this field
during the works of so many participants
here say that the
part of being finance illiterate
having the harder part of an illiterate
was having the discipline to save money
and to control his spending habits when
I hear it
I just told him that just late good a
mentality of spending money on
unnecessary things if you wish to be
protected in the future the function of
leader is to create more for more
leaders not for more followers I did the
same and I started to conduct a training
of trainers of community youth later on
they helped other people to get access
to finance
I was already about my financial status
as well
every after money
because I learned from my grandfather
that the staggering race will never end
since tea I try to find out successful
entrepreneurship ideas skills that tells
me to find out the source of income and
later on they tase me to fill my pockets
I had no idea being outside and youth
finance international youth committee
member could become a census and for
financially literate society the
resource that I gained from Thailand
youth finance International Organisation
for Economic Cooperation and Development
all wang master car foundation and
unicef that made me capable to deliver
financial literacy moment to almost
43,000 people and people of nepal many
of the children and youth too
we have i have majored they are they are
up against those very same challenges
that I faced as a children that inspire
me to teach more with enthusiasm and
that forms a desire to help other people
to asic their financial well-being
dreams and actually that is my
motivation
motivation led me to win number of s
events like I won the global award in
house of Lord UK Parliament that was my
super dream at least with the National
Youth talent award from Nepal government
I became a father of financial literacy
comic book
and I received $10,000 seed money from a
comment ability lab to work in finance
accountability sector by making people
financial literate
and recently I was selected by us MSE
due to a civic engagement project
out of 800 outstanding application from
all over the Nepal and that open the
doers that I didn’t even know existed
what I understand is
that financial literacy and financial
education as a wonderful relation to
maintain the economic process economic
development of country
if people are financial literate and if
if people are gonna make a lot
the financial system of country goes in
a smooth it goes in a smooth flow
opening our new Bank branches in
unbanked areas by making people finance
a literate and by making them
financially capable that allows people
to use financial product more wisely and
that helps to
that helps two people to maintain their
household acts household daily expenses
properly
I must say that financial literacy and
financial education is a major policy
priority in Nepal it has included in its
strategic plan
it has been identified is important
pillar in national 5-years financial
sector development strategy and Nepal
government has just introduced own Bank
in own own household campaign
according to Central Bank of Nepal 61%
of adult population are formerly
financially included but 18 percent of
adult populations they do not have any
access to formal and financial
institutions do you know why
because this is my responsibility to
make them finance a literate that is my
pure responsibility
I want to emphasize one particular point
if we wish to be a good citizen if you
wish to be a good consumer then we need
to aware about financial literacy things
our banking our banking and financial
institutions offer interest rate how
they are why they are advocating for the
digital payments but they ask to update
our key our updated information in their
bank account we need to be very serious
because that is our security
that is for our security we need to be
very serious about that
I want to add on my experience why
because why financial literacy matters a
lot everyone knows we faced we last year
there there was a work week in Nepal
before earthquake I went to the
community and I conducted a saison
financial literacy session and some of
the people showed their interest to open
a bank account and even days they think
about they thought about how to do
business in collect by doing a
collaboration with banking and financial
in cheese user
but after the earthquake I went here and
I asked them did you open a bank account
what was the answer Koenig is and they
to a lad no they were super nervous
they didn’t open the bank account and
while government denied to give relief
money without any bank account they
become super nervous to utilize the
remaining resources as well
after seeing those things I started I
said for all one month in the same
community and I majored them to open a
bank account and I caused them to know
to understand the value of money
and after a few weeks the people of God
local government to India to distribute
relief material and in that time the
people of local community asks to the
officer of local government why don’t
you why didn’t you bring those relief
metal in time
why did you give us money we have a bank
account why so this is the example of
when we make people finance illiterate
then they they they become a more
accountable and more transferring and
they ask a question to the government if
there are any kind of delay in
development process
the goal of financial literacy is to
increase the financial knowledge but if
we teach people financial basic
financial literacy and financial
education as well that will increase the
financials Osment power is well
so by saying this we must be financial
capital as well not only finance
illiterate we must be able to choose the
product we must be able to choose the
system why we where we want to invest
this kind of things
so finding is a little education and
financial literacy has a mixed kind of
effect financial literacy has a negative
kind of effect for certain behaviors but
financial literacy has a positive
effects in long-term behavior like
retirement planning you are nothing you
are okay most of the people you don’t
think about the future but if you had to
if you are if you are doing your saving
you from right now you will not to worry
about the future that is the positive
impact of financial literate leave being
literate so I would like to request you
all the audience to think a moment about
how we can educate for our generation
about financial literacy and financial
education because I mean this path to
either educate the financial illiteracy
from all over the world not from Nepal
because in the small corners of the
world we can make a difference thank you
