close your eyes and think about the last
time your mom or dad held you in their
arms think about the last time they
walked you to the bus stop or even the
last time they shop around your field
trip these are all special moments in
life and sometimes as teens we look over
them and take them for granted but they
aren’t here forever time goes by so fast
and before we know it these things are
gone in the blink of an eye
memories such as family game nights or
movie nights or even just some silly
tradition sometimes as teens when we hit
middle school we lose ourselves and the
coolness and popularity we want to grow
up fast and we’re looking for
independence but sometimes we think
we’re too cool to let our parents in a
little bit let alone give us a hug in
public and when the time comes to hang
out with family we go in our rooms and
say on snapchat we want to be busy and
we like to be busy we watch our friends
see what they’re doing and adapt to that
to fit in little by little we drift from
special moments with our family and they
slowly fade into our past but it feels
like we do our part to move them by even
more quick when we run from them and
distance ourselves from them because
they’re weird or uncool our parents they
sometimes miss us as well they don’t
realize the memories and traditions that
stopped because they get caught up in
their work and busyness they need to
make money they need to pay bills I get
it but it’s easy for them to forget to
share special moments with their teens
life goes by so fast and if we’re always
focused on what we’re gonna do next
where we’re gonna go next what we’re
gonna wear next we’ll miss out on what’s
going on right in front of us the most
special memories can be made today we
just have to open our eyes to them and
I’m not here to make you feel bad about
yourself or make you dwell on things
that you’re not doing right but to
encourage you and challenge you to make
the most of every opportunity with their
family because little do you know and
the ordinary busyness of life it could
very well be the last time obviously
some changes natural I mean it’d be kind
of weird if our parents were still spoon
feeding us and changing our diapers
plus we have more exciting memories to
be made along the road as we transition
into young adulthood so when you’re in
these times with your family even if
it’s just some silly tradition value it
value the time with their parents
parents value the time with your teens
it’s easy to get caught up in coolness
and popularity but popularity will only
last so long memories we can cherish
forever I can remember the last time my
mom braided my hair I can remember the
last time my dad put me on his shoulders
can’t even remember the last time my
parents chaperoned my field trip but was
that the last time I don’t know but what
I do know is that these are special
moments in life and maybe if we realize
that they could be here today and gone
tomorrow maybe we could learn to value them
