The Importance of Public Speaking | Mohammad Itayem | TEDxYouth@AlMasyoon

Marhaba I know it took so long it’s been

a long time

be with me five minutes we welcome

together ladies and gentlemen

assalamualaikum warahmatullah

wabarakatuh speech and public speaking

we might think of them as one in the

same by reality they can be more further

apart indifference see in our case that

behind a podium anyone can grab a mic

and that words flow but it’s not about

letting words flow it’s about how you

let those words flow is making sure that

those words that flow have a message I

think they make sure that the audience

understands what you’re saying that’s

public speaking she’s probably speaking

it’s skill he needs experience see but

there’s a difference between public

speak in the past and public speaking in

our modern age it’s in the past people

uses and I’m sorry there’s a difference

between public speak in the past and

public speaking in our modern day

the main difference can be summed up

made the only one which is the audience

is every single one of you in the past

audience you should stick to with one

speaker listen to him for an hour two

hours three hours no problem no problem

no loss of attention now a 30 40 minute

speech is too long it’s it’s not worth

it

but the audience whose attention they

get bored they may dream about something

else that is business you don’t believe

me look how i watch youtube videos

youtube videos there are 30 40 minutes

long we only watch five minutes the

question is why why only five minutes

it’s because we want to get to that

point of that video you want to

understand that video and move on with

our agenda that is it see but more

another king to Gandhi people that

inspired millions and continue to

inspire today what do they have in

common they knew how to speak that’s for

sure

but it’s not about what they said it’s

about how they said it and how they said

it touch people’s hearts and touch

people’s minds

Seymour Luther King stood in front of

thousands and said I have a dream that

one day Syedna understands that everyone

is inspired by that but we can’t dump it

in all modern time you can’t stick I

can’t make a speech that 3040 minutes

long it’s not possible just can’t so the

question is or you might ask me why are

you up here why are you speaking this

event what is your message to us I have

two number one is for my colleagues my

respected colleagues see we have we had

speeches about success speeches about

education about innovation respected

subjects normal subjects but we need to

understand that it’s not about what you

say it’s about how you say it it’s not

making sure that your audience every

single one come child to adult

understands what you’re saying knows

what you’re saying that is well this is

why we are here and I know that we fail

together but we succeed we succeed

together my second message is for every

single one of you every single one of

you my audience our audience before I go

home today I want you to ask yourself

one question before you talk you chosen

goodnight in time that tomorrow’s gonna

be a better day I need you ask

yourselves one simple question did I

waste my time did I learn from these

speakers if we did if you have it then

we have done our job if not and we have

failed him the question I mean he

doesn’t know me the question remains did

you an have one phone on top – no thank

you [Applause]
