Success = Medicine | Kavya Avadhani | TEDxYouth@BSHS

then he and bathrooms say hi and birth
but success when I was growing up my
community constantly stood the idea that
the only way to succeed was to pursue
medicine and if you didn’t get that the
engineering and the law with full back
limits in the eyes of my immigrant
experience these are the golden trio of
occupations and the pinnacle of success
but it’s not just my experience when you
see a teacher and a judge who you think
is more successful an engineer versus a
bus driver or surgeon that’s the
training once a friend of mine had
started his own successful business at
the age of 17 and chose to do business
and commerce in uni but when he came to
a community gathering he wasn’t told how
great his accomplishments were rather he
was met with all did you get better he
died right there are always other ways
into medicine needless to say he never
came back
it made me realize how is limited we
think success really is it’s defined as
the accomplishment of one’s colors so
why do you believe that everyone has the
same one as Einstein said everyone is a
genius but if you judge a fish on its
ability to climb a tree it will live
it’s a whole life believing that its
treated by sorry constructing this rigid
perception of success with boxing
ourselves in and limiting our ability to
truly progress now does what I say with
exactly
when you ask aspiring teens why they
want a bit the answers usually I’m not
too sure I think it’s because I want to
have people write meditation but I’m not
the searing medicine to appease my
parents first statement income or for an
easy life after resetting this pathway
because I want to have a profound impact
on society I believe that the society to
progress equal health care and education
for all demographics is necessary and I
am determined to prevent senseless lives
who they lost such as my grandfather’s
due to a lack of resources you see I’m
not saying that these three typical
drugs are bad I’m saying that this so
much more if you’re truly passionate
about something success will follow and
in this context success also encompasses
happiness and satisfaction in Australia
ninety-eight percent of medical
graduates are able to obtain employment
there according to beyond blue one in
five medical students and 118 doctors
have suicidal thoughts in 2013 not
everyone who enters the medical field is
passionate about it and that makes it
difficult to deal with the realities of
the emotional strain and long Alvis that
goes with being a doctor it’s like
someone who doesn’t love teaching
they’re bound to struggle dealing with
angsty teams we have disproportionate
amounts of respect and reverence for
certain occupations
and why we believe that person is
successful if they’re in a certain
profession regardless of actual ability
but thank you
only one way to achieve so to
artificially trains through a circle
mold if they only fit through a square
you would just be left with broken
enemies but it’s not just enough to
beautifully or drinks as soon as our
generation steps outside the
conventional books of success the next
generation falls straight back into it
the society to a bowl we can’t just sent
outside the books it must be broken
see stepping outside happens when we act
ourselves but breaking the books
involves education and a ways for all
generations we’ve definitely made some
steps forward regardless I mean
theoretically students should be able to
find and focus on what they’re
passionate about as for example to stay
high office more than 40 subjects to
choose from but when it comes to the way
that these subjects abroad cost there’s
clearly a difference between what we
should and what we shouldn’t do don’t
get me wrong we’ve always been told to
choose subjects we’ve genuinely joy but
when it comes to the early system lower
weighted subjects just on a stood out
and serving people that take well away
the subjects like Maxie or chemistry
complain about them on a daily basis see
it’s not just enough to have a heap of
options available for subjects
they need to be valued and encouraged
equally it’s like trying to decide
between an iPhone and a Samsung but
aren’t they knowing the Ivar’s positive
qualities we’re human so we cognitively
study the new thing in this case I folks
but not even aware of the qualities of
the Samsung or a subject like us
so we peek the iPhone a subject like
physics now I don’t blame anyone for
this how the system is but we can’t just
accept it and change society needs to
recognize that all professions are
worthy whether you’re a plumber or a
surgeon because of your true passion
lies in the mechanics of pipe where no
one has the right to deed this as less
valuable than a passion for anatomy we
need to emphasize the importance of
satisfaction in the concept of success
if you detest your job the nerve amount
of money can buy back your mental health
until we realize that all passions up on
the same level the demands of those of
less inertia standing will continue to
be low I’m a hundred percent sure this
isn’t going to be an easy process it
takes me a sultan ten minutes to decide
the twin listening to Drake or the top
50 so changing our mindset around the
idea of success was heck of all Lanka
it’s easy if you go to harm and just
forget about all of this but just think
why do I want to do what I want to do
it’s a little confusing I know but if we
all take the easy route the books of
success doesn’t just stand
it becomes stronger and that makes it
more difficult to dismantle piggy plates
and mantas runs are going to be
inseparable for years to come but let’s break the link between success and
