we’ve all had our ups and downs of life
and here’s a story about how our school
garden helped somewhere down we gotta
know since the principal miss Johnson
and we saw a lot of her unfortunately
she saw a lot of our bad side at first
we’re getting referrals and she has to
give us or Consequences we slowly
started to build a solid relationship
with her she was investigating who got
in trouble
sometimes we have to ding in trouble she
became so many trust can be realized one
day I opened up to her about her life’s
a garden I was younger I thought the
idea of a school garden and she actually
made it happen not talking weeks months
I’m talking days later the deal was that
as long as you didn’t get into too much
trouble we’ll be able to help out in the
garden and the barnyard had a plant a
tweet I mean actually we didn’t get the
roots out we had to water it once every
other day until it got hotter then we
had to order it 2 or 3 times a day
once the garden started coming in we
started giving tours cuz kids would ask
and ask and eyes to see it but there’s
more than just winning watering
happening it was happening inside of us
that really matter we started trying to
stay out of trouble
avoiding bad situations we became
connected to the garden and we do almost
anything to make sure you gots working
now I went to miss Johnson’s office it
was for good things we think that every
school should have a garden kids I have
a hard time at school can we focus their
attention on something positive crowning
caroling teaching gardening skills like
planting and weeding because you have to
be healthy
miss Johnson toasted the fruits and
veggies we will be giving away to family
just gonna need more than us but she
also showed us ways to make LT delicious
snacks even the fruits and veggies we
grew we made salad to converse salad
cheesy roasted zucchini and zucchini
pizza now my friend AJ is going to share
a spoken word
– about our story wasn’t the vent anger
referrals defeated inside trouble
embarrassed upset I wouldn’t want that
to happen again
stuck in the shell weakness inside
surrounded by darkness just one it’s a
hot they’re bugging me now don’t make me
lose it gotta throw my shades I just got
to move it I’m finding control and
learning to lead I’m gonna go out of
this just wait you see finally freedom
I’m on the other side I’m out of that
she’ll there’s no need to hide I may be
little now but just wait and see I sell
more time to turn into me we challenge
you not to just plant a garden in your
school we challenge you to look past the
bad and see the good in people
especially those kids that get into

something like a gardening engine back
on track
