good afternoon everybody so and I
introduced myself as a professional
gamer so I get this feeling that people
are looking at me like an alien where
did it come from
who is he what do you do so this is
because of lack of acknowledgement and
awareness of what eSports is right now
eSports stands for electronic sports
this is nothing different than any other
sport which we have apart from my
country the many other countries which
are facing the same problem of lack of
awareness but there are many countries
like China US Europe and Russia these
countries encourage the gamers a lot
more than what we do so coming back to
the topic of eSports
let me just brief you guys what we do
and how do we come out as a whole new
breed of gamers so this is what eSport
is how we play tournaments and all the
crowd which has gathered here is not for
football cricket tennis this is only for
gains the floor from the countries
across the globe to come to a place just
to watch the favourite sportsman play
which i think is a very big thing to do
and they’re not even going to play the
game you just come there to watch just
like you go to Spain Barcelona and watch
your favorite football player play so
this is what we do because this lot of
enthusiasm and interest we gain for
games and all and what eSport has done
in the last six or seven years is really
incredible the growth is
I think this is increasing by many Falls
every year so this is a graph I would
say this is still 2014 and says the
story which I am trying to show you guys
the graph is going at a very high rate
and this is always going to increase
because gamers are always increasing
once a gamer is always a gamer till you
die that’s what we do and as we are
speaking the number of gamers is always
increasing has the industry is expanding
now to summarize all of my words in one
simple example I want to say something
about a personality and which personally
inspired me many other gamers like me he
is well known as sumail his name is Syed
sumail Hassan and he is from Pakistan he
is you would be surprised knowing his
age when he joined a professional team
he was 16 years old when he got picked
up by a team called evil Genesis which
is again a very legendary and very
respected team in this eSports industry
so he got picked up at the age of 16 and
that time he was not even known in
Pakistan itself he was very unknown
personality and suddenly he comes up to
being one of the best teams and he went
out and he went to win the most
prestigious tournament in the history of
Dora that is called the International
and the prize pool for that single
tournament was 21 million dollars so we
are talking about what a lot of money
involved that just for one tournament
and his achievements followed even till
today he’s in the best team again evil
geniuses
no it was no luck he made himself and
what he is today is what he inspired
others to do as well as me too
let me show you guys what these fellow
gamers have earned not just a man there
are many other examples which I can give
they all have the same story they are
all inspirational but these numbers of
millions of dollars which the gamers
have earned in the last few years says
the story of all eSports athletes right
now this is a really huge market which
you are talking about it’s a
billion-dollar industry currently now
this image I think most of you I think
99% people here know what this is
Olympics we are talking about Olympics
it is the most prestigious tournament
for any athlete you guys should be aware
that Olympics is going to add eSports to
it and in my country people are barely
known that eSport is a sport they don’t
even know what eSport is anyways so
moving on when I started my gaming
career there was no support I had to
struggle a lot but that is a story of
many people but I am NOT going to repeat
all that so what happened was we had lot
of lacus we can see sponsors investors
and many other things with like so many
factors which came across people don’t
respect the gamers that think it’s very
childish thing but no this is not this
is serious business which you’re talking
about
so when
I wanted to be on that level there was
only very few set of people let’s say my
family there was only people who
supported me they were backing me up
financially and always inspired me I I
just didn’t become the best in India I
had to fight for it and in that fight I
always used to come second most of the
time but but by that time I lost hope in
myself but then my family did they never
lost hope in me so I think that was a
very big thing which I have been blessed
for with my family so again let me tell
you what a boot camp is when in any
sport if you have a very big event
coming up so what you do is you increase
your practices and you all come under
one roof and you start practicing that’s
what we do and as Camus – if you have
very big event coming up we start doing
boot camp so this was never a thing in
India like we never had facilities do it
so my team decided that we should do
this but we had no financial support and
we didn’t want any burden on our
families so we we saved money from our
tournaments eventually it happened and
but it was having we still fell short of
systems computer systems so I had to
pack my system up lift it in bags travel
to Bangalore that’s how we did our first
boot camp and eventually paid off that
single small step gave us a lot of
improvement and we started being
recognized as a very strong team because
we started being huge names in this
industry so that is what we did the
small step gave us such a big fruit
after that the investors came in the
sponsors came in and the rest is history
and now I’m here so the point is
that single step of motivation you had
nothing to work with
and you still took the step that is what
is important in at least India because
we have a lot of problems here as a
gamer if I went out to follow my dream
not only on gaming if I want to be a
painter or be anything I will face
society first that are you going to make
a living out of it are you sure you’re
going to do that I think should be
engineer that is what people say yeah
it’s true in fact I’m an engineer too
that’s irony anyway so yeah India is the
largest engineering producing country
like we produce a lot of engineers every
year is it because we want to be known
we are forced to be we have lot of
passion everyone is special in its own
kind you have some talent in yourselves
you might be good at carving you might
be good at singing arts dance stuff but
you never get permission from your
society and stuff to follow your dream
so the main point is what we took steps
to follow a dream trade us off and now
we are at a level where we can make very
good living out of it which I don’t
think could have been possible in any
other field now coming with the main
topic of what gaming has done to me
what is has given me people say that it
is an addiction addiction is of two
types it can give me a good erection it
can be a bear addiction you might be
addicted to some person your family or
anyone is that a bad thing now it’s a
good thing but there are some bad
addictions too Gaming is not an
addiction if you are doing it
professionally you might be doing any
other sport like you might be playing
cricket ten hours a day would you call
Sachin Tendulkar an addict
no because he is doing it professionally
he is very good at it
so why is
difference for gamers so that’s my point
I do it professionally I can put my arse
in it it’s not an addiction I’m taking
care of my house I do parkour
I do things to balance my life so that’s
what people should know there are
negative points but everything has
negative points please look into the
aspects of what industry is coming into
now there are TV shows channels just
like ESPN Star Sports so and so in China
there are TV shows for gaming we believe
it there having actually reality shows
based on dira gamers with any other
games so why are we lacking behind all
this
not just my country there many other
countries which don’t follow this and
once this games are coming into Olympics
and stuff we are way behind it would be
too late the investors will regret being
you know thinking two times three times
to invest in the gaming industry there
will be a lot of regret and the gamers
who had talent but they have lack of
opportunity and used a lack of
motivation lack of inspiration they will
regret being like I could have been
there one day but my parents didn’t
allow me I could have been there but I
didn’t finding sponsors so this should
be in opportunity for investors sponsors
parents even the gamers to look into it
and we give it a second thought
like if you are actually going to do
anything if you’re very good at it
please give it a try give it some time
if you are really good at it you will
definitely get paid off any sport
anything so now what gaming has given me
is it has given me so many things which
I can mention but
now I would like to point out a few
things which I have personally
experienced from gaming first of all I
have played under so much pressure that
now I can face my life easily no matter
what comes in ahead of me I am ready to
face it because from a normal person to
me I have experienced a lot of pressure
and I know how to handle it so that’s
one thing another thing is the way I
look into the lives of other people I am
now a better person because I know how
every region every country every race
people have communicated with I know
people better now staying at one place
and knowing many people which is gaming
given me and another thing is my parents
they’ve always supported me and in
return I think giving them success and
moments of flower is what matters right
in the end there now they can say that
my son has achieved something which I
don’t think I could have achieved my son
has done that so that is a very proud
feeling for me that my father feels very
happy that I am such a successful game
or now the memories the memories you
create playing a tournament winning it
you put a lot of years of practice in it
and once you get to see that things come
and give you a reward as a trophy it’s
not just about money it’s about the
trophy you get to keep and look keep
looking at it and you remember the whole
thing again it just comes into your eyes
again that you have won it the worst few
moments I cried after winning
tournaments and I’m I never cry for
small things that was something I cried
for and I cried like a small baby after
winning tournaments so I still get
goosebumps and I think about it
so I hope this has changed idea of many
people about eSports and what gamers do
please have a look at gamers in a
different way the industry is growing
you should know what’s going on and it
will really helpful if even a handful of
gamers get motivated by this or a
handful of parents understand what
gaming is and they come to know the
eSports criteria and what how he works
and you know the things so I would like
to thank everybody for giving your time
[Applause]
[Applause]
