Human beings have three dimensions | Israa Ali | TEDxMIU

most of our moms have the same trick
where she tells you she’s right there
but she’s really not so I wait for her
in the street
Asha I always fall for that trick and as
I as I wait for her a kid and his mom
passed by me and as loudly as you can
the kid like so innocently he asked his
mom mama mama
hoggle elicit and at the time I laugh
hysterically which probably left him
traumatized but I guess that makes us
even
and I thought to myself is that how
people really saw me fast-forward to
summertime something magnificent for me
Venus Valley hustle it one of my
favorite shows Rick and Morty aired its
third season yes and if you guys know me
personally you’ll know I’m obsessed with
that show and if you don’t know me
personally hi I’m obsessed with that
show and let me just give you a little
bit of a background about the show
oh it’s basically Rick is Morty’s
grandfather and he’s the most
intelligent person in the universe and
he takes money on adventures all around
these parallel universes so we all
noticed people who watched season three
we all noticed something different about
that season it was different than the
first two you start to see something
different about the characters you find
the more these parents they get a
divorce and his mom really wants to go
off and explore
self and we see his dad after the
divorce like a bunch of things that
really happen it’s not the same as Rick
and Morty in the first two seasons where
it’s just sci-fi adventures and monsters
and aliens it’s not the same anymore so
I did a little bit of digging and I
found out no the first two seasons were
written by a one gender team of writers
while the third season they decided to
introduce like a an equal ratio of both
genders the first two seasons were
amazing they gave the show what it is
but I believe that the third season
really pushed it to this next level
and I think a lot of people agree with
that because the third season really did
get the highest ratings of out of all of
them that brings me on to the next point
we all take decisions every day whether
it’s do I really want to wake up when
the alarm rings the first time anything
like from small decisions to big
decisions we all handle them in two
different perspectives okay so mostly
you either have a an emotional aspect to
it or you handle it in a in a logical
approach
okay so we have person X okay and let’s
imagine person X he works in Cairo and I
want you to remember that he has a
nine-to-five job like most of us he
works all day and he happened to have
like some work assignments outside of
work and for four hours he’s driving in
Cairo’s heat and traffic logically
speaking after he’s done he should be
back at the office finishing the rest of
his work he’s getting paid for that okay
but emotionally speaking the guy is
probably dead from all the heat and the
traffic and Antico example
Haggar for Katya it’s more general than
stuff that happens to everyone I feel
I’ve never seen and you get the the
someone approaches you the beggar or
approaches you and one day you were like
person X and you’ve had a long day at
work and you decide well I don’t want to
give him money he should be out working
like I do but the other day maybe you
feel like the like maybe you want to
give him money maybe you feel sorry for
him he doesn’t have enough money on him
like you do so it’s the same decision
and we decided to take it differently
each time and that has happened to to
most of us throughout my life I’ve taken
like most of my decisions logically like
big ones and small ones I I think really
strategically and although I’m I am an
emotional person but I look at my
emotions like that and be like Shh no I
don’t want you here and it usually works
you can like shoo them away and it’s
okay but at some point they just decide
to be too loud so at some point you
really want to reach that balance
between logical and emotional so the way
I decided to do that is that I I found
it through I’ve through my creative
expression I decided to write more to
draw more and I even like started to
play the guitar for a while all of these
things have really helped me out
throughout throughout my my phase of
want to say that we all have a different
way of finding that kind of balance
if I would if I were to find it through
my creative expression someone can find
it through something as simple as like
sitting down on a Thursday night with
some friends anything like that
hell I even thought of like my emotions
through if I’m angry I can go out for a
run and if I’m confused I go right
all of these ways have worked for me and
we all know that each person is
different and the way they do their own
and one day I stumbled across this quote
it’s by a most it’s by an Egyptian
writer her name is Morocco she wrote in
her book a poison tree groanin and
planted in Egypt it says someone once
told me that each person has three
dimensions how you see yourself how
others see you and how you want others
to see you the smaller the gap between
those three dimensions the more at peace
you become and the more stable you are
so I thought to myself well I do find a
really big gap between Who I am and how
others see me much like that kid and his
mom it was just like that’s not who I am
like I Know Who I am I I just want to
say that we all have that gap in our
lives and you you can find your own way
through balancing your emotions and your
logical approaches and lastly I hope all
of us here can find a stable ground as
stable as steel to to feel comfortable
by being ourselves
thank you you
