a flash of color a burst of light the
music is playing
music has been a big influence on my
life from a very young age so much so
that when my dad was changing my nappy
he would sing to me music is my escape
from the world well he’s a musician so
there is no escape quickly though you’re
right but I see music in a different
light in different colors I have this
problem some of you may have heard of it
some of you won’t have it’s called
synesthesia I see music with color words
with personalities and subjects with
colors it’s usually connected with major
strokes and is seen as a neurological
condition all these negative images of
it but it’s beautiful it’s like I’m
swimming in a pool of Blues and Indigo’s
and dancing amongst streamers of pink
and green but my generation
we’re glued to our phones and I’m a
victim of it myself but we seem to mate
listening to music the most ridiculous
thing in the world there’s either ten of
us crowding on one tiny speaker we have
these big blobs of plastic on the side
of our face all these twisty turny
sports headphones which no matter which
way you put it in
they’ll never stay in you have that one
headphone you put it in and listen to
music and it falls out so you put it
back in again and it falls out but pink
and blue streamers and yellow and white
stripes and I’m not talking about
syntheses ear I’m talking about live
music some of you might not go out
because
I know recently one of our live music
festivals Live Music Venues in Harlow
has been shut down I no longer go out
and see local bands and support them in
my area so I took I’ll take this
opportunity today to perform to you and
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy
it before me
[Applause]
now this song is called seven years by
Lukas Graham once I was seven years old
my mama told me go make yourself some
friends or you’ll be lonely once I was
seven years old
oh it was a big big well we thought we
were bigger pushing each other to the
limits we were learning quicker by
eleven smoking herb and drinking burning
liquor never rich so we were out to me
that steady figure once I was eleven
years old my daddy told me go get
yourself a wife or you’ll be lonely once
I was eleven years old I always had that
dream like my daddy before me so started
writing songs started writing stories
something about that glory just always
seemed to bore me and only those I
really love will ever really know me
once I was once I was 20 years old my
story got told before the Morning Sun my
life is only once I was 20 years old I
[Music]
only see my goals I don’t believe in
failure cause I know the smallest voices
they can make a major got my boys with
me at least those in favor and if I see
before I leave I hope to see you later
once I was 20 years old my story got
told before the Morning Sun my life is
so named once I was 20 years old
[Music]
so we’ll be 30 years old our story got
sold we’ve traveled around the world and
Westerville then soon we’ll be 30 years
old I’m still learning about life mom
but children for me so I can sing them
all my songs and I can tell their
stories most of my boys are with me some
myself how so you can go over here and
some I had to leave behind my brother
I’m still sorry soon we’ll be 60 years
old my daddy made 60 woman in my life
and then your life becomes a better one
I made a man so happy when old a letter
once oh my children come visit once or
twice a month soon will be 60 years old
will I think the world is cold but I
have a lot of Thun who come for me soon
will be 60 years old so will be 60 years
old I think the word is gonna have a lot
of junu for me sooo not be 60 years old
once I was seven years old my mama told
me go make yourself some friends or
you’ll be lonely once I was seven years
old
once our seven years
[Applause]
Roza to get up and talk is one thing but
to play the guitar and sing is something
entirely different you have the most
amazing voice thank you have you been
performing a long time yes since a
really young age I think my first memory
of performing is when I was three and my
dad was performing and he invited me on
stage and I was so terrified I come home
to my big teddy I remember and it was in
front of at least a hundred people and
it was great at three that kind of
explains how you’ve developed into this
amazing performer now what do you what
do you want to do if you had a magic
wand and you could kind of look into the
future and see future you what would
that look like oh it’s completely
different from what I have been saying
today because I’d love to be a barrister
Wow in them in the big courts so you
could be a singing barrister that would
be incredible you should like barest and
then sing it afterwards you could keep
people entertained yeah I love that you
have you have so many talents and you
have so many dreams but you’ve you’ve
really to get to this level where you
can stand and play and talking to you
before to have that kind of confidence
it does require focus so what is it what
advice can you give to people who maybe
have lots of talents and start things
but never finish things how do you focus
on something and see it through well one
of the speaker’s here today is called
nakiya and she was telling me how are
you so confident when you get up on
stage so when we were practicing I made
her jump up and down so what I always do
before I go on stage or I need to focus
on something I always do something
really active so I know my teacher was
seeing me I was dancing out there just
in my own little world dancing so I’m in
my own world my own zone and I’m doing
something really active it’s brilliant
and that physiology kind of gives you
gets you into the right Mike
thank you so much you are an inspiration
play on singing incredible lady
well don’t Rosa
