Finding Your Gold | Lekpele Nyamalon | TEDxMonrovia

I want you to please close your eyes for

a few seconds and begin to imagine

imagine you are out in a very deep

forest and you will ask the ghoul on a

treasure hunt and whatever you found was

yours but a great opportunity just

imagine the whole same piece open your

eyes when you hire your eyes closed I’m

sure what you saw was a brief period of

darkness the darkness represents how

bleak had rims are when you first start

to dream it is never claimed on till I

see you to imagine then you began to see

the images each of you was able but

imagine differently that’s the power of

the individual mind to imagine the world

would never understand the dream until

you are able to take it clever and paint

it with a brush die so Claire for the

rest of the world to see each town you

feel to make a dream so clear for the

rest of the words to understand and you

get too stressful two letters new take

it back and say it is not over because

it is never over until you say that it

is over I will share with you a poem

that I read into the high school written

by the American port Langston Hughes and

it is titled dream deferred what happens

to a dream deferred does it dry up like

A Raisin in the Sun

autos it fester like a zoo and then run

look that’s across for whatever syrupy

sweet maybe it just sags that were heavy

load or does it explode there are two

things that will happen to your dream

you can either allow the dream to sag

like a heavy load or you can allow 8 to

explode because the truth is no dream is

so heavy for you to carry the dream is

only as big as you imagine it or you can

choose where a dream to explode and

lighter particles filter across the

earth for everyone to feel it I will

share with you a very personal story I

grew up in a home where my father

brought home regular supplies of

newspapers and magazines so really when

something I grew up doing I went to

elementary school junior high and high

school I started writing poetry short

stories and just anything when I never

thought of myself to one day or any

other point in town become a writer or a

port and then I left high school I

joined the corporate world I was working

in mid-level management support three

was something of my fast and one day

something happened I listened on the

radio and I heard of a poetry

competition that was offered us luckily

I applied on a day of the event I showed

up at the moon river city home I was

just sitting somewhere back there and

guess what my poem did not make the

shortlist not even the long list I was

so frustrated I started over day I said

well maybe this thing is not my thing as

we stopped taking part in competition

but that movement was very defining for

me because it would have allowed me to

not pursue my dreams and in photo or who

stopped right away but I knew that there

was a grows inside of me that the rest

of the world had to see you see each of

us has a good mind of talent that is

varied somewhere

we have to dig beyond the devil’s of

fear dot cynicism and complacency and

find it you have to find your good you

know gold miners those who mind goes I

amongst the most resilient folks you can

find these are people who never gave up

they look intact and rocks and stones

keep searching for that gold until the

someday find it and when they do the

spirit on gave up and so I came back it

is stronger this time I was writing

poetry writing short stories rating

opinion pieces and share it to the

newspapers and then one day in French

sent me a link of a poetry residencia to

be held in Siliga on glory ireland when

one when i said well there’s a garden

salad mean that spoke and said the last

time you tried a competition you know

just what happened so you gotta take it

easy here but at this time i had to send

10 points as per the competition and

assigned in our route one evening on my

way home I got an email I was selected

to go to synagogue and John or a

distinguished place from across West

Africa and read and otology of African

poetry I was an OSI y 4 12 fellow in the

same year i saw a competition for what

for 3d it was open last by young people

today young people today is a youth

group based for something and instant

Africa invest in something Africa in

this guy from West Africa applied

against what my poem titled forgotten

future emerged as the winner poem for 14

15 2015 a third point was a third point

was this I’m also published a driven

collection of for spring now I stand

before you tonight not as the gun who’s

port free was turned down

from a local competition but as an OC

web portal fellow and award-winning poet

resilience resilience resilience my

story in many ways has taught me the

power of embedding resilience never

allow the four agents that stop evil

rich in your dreams to the grove view

they are fear daft cynicism and

complacency here those who fear to try

to brace themselves for in very long

wait and you cannot possibly motivate

anyone if you have no a counter with

perennial a friend is proud fear to me

as a growing liar without TT cynicism

with all hard moments or start assessing

in our lives but you know what a burnt

we know it shows its wings if it does

not flop it if you want the flower learn

to flap your wings and go dumped is okay

when people tell you you can’t make it

but never get to a point where you say

to yourself I can’t do this and

complacency don’t ever care to a point

where you have totally satisfied that

everything is ok as a motivational

speaker once said the greatest threat to

success is the last success if we want

to get out there and find your good you

must have the guts g u T s God’s g be

goal-oriented I’m a clarity Fargo and go

for it you be unbending Norman allow a

negative experience to define you t be

thorough if you want to see things in

life understand the challenges and learn

to overcome them and as stay on course

if you want to be great you must

understand that good men at those who

have walked down valleys but I’ve come

up on skate they are sunk rock bottom

but it’s so anyway they have been buried

but greulich seeds they are stories that

inspire to change the word a word thing

they never lose is courage the

faint-hearted are the easier go gators

the never try did never lose they are

afraid to dream when in someday find

your gold and illuminate your path I

want you to remember this that real

success is not how bright your light

shines but how you are able to use your

light to get videos out of darkness
