I’ve been living the travel delays for
Vadapalani
from past couple of years and before
relocating to this tribal village I
worked with American Express or for a
decade or so that you know Stanford and
Google talked about relatively is the
private community is generally defined
as a group of business equal what
dependent on the land for likelihood and
who are not really integrated into the
national society India has a private
population of around 100 million people
which is almost equal to the one third
of the total population of the US even
after several decades of the
Independence of the country my family
society today still faces when you are
fortunate realities and what I believe
Facebook’s of my experience so far the
lack of education is the root cause and
will operate it further it is lack of
quality in education if you have to look
at the census and let fit by the
Government of India the literacy rate
for the tribal community in India is at
fifty nine percent the Traci is defined
by the Constitution of India as the
ability to read and write to understand
the question here is whether the Munich
Tracy alone is enough for a person who
competed that natural society the answer
I believe is known if you also look at
the other records like the reports
published by the office of the registrar
general the enrolment ratio on education
for the tribal children at higher
secondary level is at 43% and at higher
education level it is only at 13% which
means that out of the eligible age of
only 43% of those private students are
actually able to receive
their higher secondary education and
only 13% of them are able to receive
their higher education this is where you
know if you also look at the student
dropout ratio for the tribal children
from class one to panel
according to the Department of school
education MHRD within that sixty two
percent which means that how about every
hundred students getting admitted to
class one this year only 38 students
would be able to complete their to a
stem unless 60 students would be
dropping out of the school at different
point of pain for different kind of
reasons now whether it is illiteracy
rate on enrolment ratio of Education or
even the student robbery we have not
used considered the quality of education
in any of these indicators even the
students who are able to receive
education they are not able to receive
the quality education the quality and
education is much needed for them to
compete with the national society today
I was very shocked to read one of the
reports which was presented Parliament
in 2016 that revealed that in
multiplication seven there are seventeen
thousand eight hundred schools which are
being managed by this one teacher per
school imagine it’s 70 thousand schools
which are running with just one each of
our school imagine what would be the
quality of education in goes booth with
the position one on number two on that
list having orange equal number of such
single-digit schools now we all know
that computer education is very
important in today’s society right from
the primary education level and it’s
schools that I’m talking about hundreds
and thousands of such schools rural and
private schools they are running without
Alexa T so you cannot even have computer
education in all those booths so the
point what I am trying to make here is
that with the education system itself is
struggling for its survival the tribal
community there is no way that the
students would be able to receive the
quality education that is before them
compete with the mainstream society now
if you will lack of education or a long
period all sorts of
right and these problems can very well
be seen and found in the tribal society
today according to the estimates
prepared by the Planning Commission in
2011 and whether 45% of the tribal
community was still below the poverty
line 45% of the community was below the
poverty line and if you were to include
the population which was constantly
above the poverty line I would say that
this first page would probably go up to
60 to 65%
as for the socio-economic and cancer
census and liquid by the Ministry of
travel appearance it was revealed that
he T 6% of the tribal board households
and families fall under the category
where the income of the highest earning
salary member is less than 5000 rupees a
month we see six person families are
having effect well earning less than
5,000 rupees the same census also
revealed that less than seven percent of
the tribal families are having a member
who is employer either in a public or a
private sector job so the 45% of the
community population is below the
poverty line maybe six percent of the
families and having a member learning
less it photography’s and only 7% of the
tribal households are having a person
who is employed and working in either
public sector private so that is the
kind of financial difficulty that is
being faced by the tribal society today
and this is the profile of the tribal
society in India today the so far I
spoke about all the problems and
difficulties and challenges being faced
by the tribal society in India but in
the second part of our I want to speak
about a unique model actually a unique
working model of socio-economic
transformation of the federal society
the village where I live Raja Rani
is a forest village cluster it has
Spanish all Hamlet’s having a population
of around 6,000 times people to various
institutions of raj services and Elva
have been working for the upliftment of
the area of almost 400 years various
types of
strategies have been worked out for
different areas of work and the highest
priority force is given to education and
the education includes vocation skilling
and other entrepreneurship if we talk
about the education and the Dei
is very several schools they’re having a
couple stupid strengths of 1200 private
students and out of that 40 people’s in
Thai girls now if I were to ask you for
a woman we imagine a Hawaiian a
classroom in a tribal school which is
located in a very remote forest area
which is even not on the Google Maps yet
what would be the picture of such
classroom in your mind can you even
imagine it this sort of glassful even in
your imagination in a tribal area this
is actually a neat classroom where I
teach every day so the schools in Tirana
Ferrari are all equipped with each
classrooms high speed high speed
internet computer labs printers scanners
wireless network tablet computers for
students and everything is being run on
solar power so there is no dependency on
the regular electricity to provide
computer education in these schools the
education from class one fella is
completely free in addition all the
students are also being provided with
two sets of uniforms let’s books page
studies shoes bicycles with me real
excetera everything is free of course
today then as I told you that everything
is run on solar power so there is no
dependents from the lake city it is a
very unique order of Education where in
these fibres students have a unique
facility to complete their pre finally
to undergraduate level education without
leaving their glaze so they don’t have
to leave their villages they don’t have
to go to town they have to leave their
forests to receive the education it is
all available right there in the
right for free prank we have caught the
graduate level so what is the outcome
what is the result of this entire effort
the result is that a large number of
students from these institutions are now
well it plays in the metropolitan cities
of the country and they are well
competing in the National Society in
addition to the economics law of
emphasis is also given on skill
development and rural energy I is
running three entrepreneurship program
or aqua arena and all these programs are
basically providing and training to
local women and youth in the areas of
apparel and oil making very thought of
processing food processing automobile
repair electrical repair and welding etc
line number of tribal youth and women
have now been trained in having come up
it to set up they micro and nano level
and privates all they established like
the in the pictures you can see some of
the products made by these tribal women
praying that the hut my initiator this
is the picture of the automobile repair
skilling center for this we have signed
an MoU with Yama also now all the
establishment in radio variable age’
area having Rahman solar power
we promote use of green and renewable
energy in the forest area all the
villages have also been provided with
solar street lamps the school’s the
hospitals
thus killing centers everything is run
on solar power all the households all
the tribal families have also been given
solar last
intensive use of technology actually
supports all these initiatives in these
remote tribal areas it is absolutely
remarkable to know and share that VI a
university has not only enabled but is
also providing regional connectivity
each power
or who earlier never had any cellular
connectivity in their area
PII has sent her to pick along with a
long wireless network through which this
connectivity is being provided now if we
move on to other areas where the work is
being done health care facilities is
have also been set up in right over our
behavior you will be amazed to know that
more than 40,000 patients from
neighboring villages and the town are
being treated every year free of cost
even the medicines are absolutely
[Applause]
regular medical camps multi-specialty
medical camps telemedicine sessions are
also being organized in these remote
areas an ambulance facility is available
for 6,000 people free of powers 24:07
around the year so this is the kind of
work that is being done in the areas of
education technology and healthcare if
we move on to other areas of world where
development strategies have been worked
out this area would include agriculture
irrigation management of forests life
transportation physical connectivity and
of course the conservation of local
private heritage few examples of both
both being done in this area would
include a large number of stock dams
have been constructed in various
villages who provide irrigation
facilities for the farmers
all the farmers living around these
stock dams are being benefited from this
kind of work more than 70 common plants
are we contracted every year and are
being maintained for day life who
maintain the forest life in a remote
forest area of course service or
transportation and physical connectivity
is available for 6,000 people three days
in a week from the village to the
nearest town which is 50 kilometers away
this is
real cost with the entire 6000 resident
of the area the tribal culture is
promoted and protected by authorizing
different cultural events and through
these events the local talent and
heritage is protected and promoted so
through all these were what I’m trying
to present here is that it is a unique
model of socio-economic transformation
and this model has transformed the
entire inaudible re area in a
sustainable manner it is only the hard
work being done by the various
institutions of the albergue over the
past several decades that the Raja
Valley area has now developed and
emerging as a tribal village system if
we replicate if we replicate this model
to the other tribal areas of the country
I’m sure that we would be able to all
the difficulties and challenges faced by
the famine society today and being a
part of this system being a part of this
unique model and I feel it every day
that it is an idea worth spreading thank
you thank you
[Applause] [Music]
