would walk by Pacquiao going more just
to be the man who walks up thousand here
comes the fun part one more time one
more one more get mo me time Sweet
Caroline alright yes yes yes
sorry how did that feel how’d that feel
right so we want you to pay attention to
how you came in here and how that felt
after we all sang together right hold on
to that feeling and we want to talk to
you about our project no enemies okay so
for the last two years
Johnny fiver and I are in the group Flo
BOTS thank you thank you and no enemies
has been the name of our campaign it’s
been the name of the album that we just
dropped in May it’s also kind of been
our mantra for our change work in our
strategy making and all of it started
with a man named Vincent Harding so some
people here know Vincent Harding yes a
giant in the civil rights movement a
true jewel of the city he passed away
about three years ago and he was a
mentor to us and many other activists
and when he would come to our rallies
when he’d come to our actions our
trainings he only had one question of
critique and that question was where are
the songs now he wasn’t asking us to
release more mixtapes or more albums or
anything like that he was saying why
aren’t you young activists using music
as technology like we did in the civil
rights movement
now as professional musicians our point
of departure was exploring music but not
only as an aesthetic form but also as a
means of solving problems as technology
right technology that can bring a room
of strangers together what you
experienced the before and after of when
you came in here we call that a state
shift in exploring and studying this
music and as technology and looking at
how it worked in movements in the past
we realized we’re dealing with two major
traditions like that’s
of power and songs of performance I’m
gonna talk a little bit about the
difference now in song as a performance
it’s all about the performer the power
comes from the audience to the person on
stage with the mic now there’s nothing
wrong with that in fact that’s how we’ve
made our careers but also we want to
talk a little bit about songs of power
now the songs of power the
responsibility for the energy of the
room is distributed amongst the entire
room so that responsibility for that
vibe for that state shift is all
distributed and we want to show you a
little bit about what that means
so as we experience songs of power we
invite you to notice how the room
changes we invite you to notice how it
feels and please we invite you to
participate you guys cool with that are
you cool with that
all right in my mind I’ll hold the
passion and ASEA for the poison my
bruised and battered body washes up on
the shore sin pleased from leaking
wounds like rats from sinking ships as I
float off to forever with these words
upon my lips no I never asked for
nothing and that’s just what I got as my
pride dies before I do as I fall I’m
also cold
I wasted many days chasing brightly
gleaming streams as I fold into your
presence do I now know what it means in
my mind I hold the passion panacea for
the boys and my bruised and bad body
washes up upon the shore sin flees from
leaking bones like rats on sinking ships
as I float off to forever with these
words upon my lips no one never asks for
nothing and that’s just what I got as my
pride dies before I do where I fall I’m
oh so calm I wasted minute days chasing
brightly gleaming streams as I fold into
your presence do I now know what it
means
[Music]
Cowboys in the spaceship the crowd
noises wasted women take pics so they
could seem naked guys tell jokes so they
could see him naked church ladies vote
what they perceive sacred proposition
hatred phosphorus and riverbeds the
billion dollars filled to fill esophagus
for cigarettes philosophers plot tomb
all nations at a shock and awe
generation of ideas children who won’t
talk at all profits fall years spent in
prison cells next to die his twelve
peers didn’t exercise the privilege well
babies raised through the glass bullets
at the board of war games take a staff
coordinate who can pass like a paper bag
minutes on an internet porn pays
fornicate maker gag what’s the damage
for the neighbor tagged by the amateur
water blast to race the traces of the
canisters water path took the stairways
left the banisters washed over premises
turned up percentages
lost under sludge lots of revised
sentences defense budget padded by
sandbags and sandwiches wasted wasted

it is time for us to raise our voices
it’s time for us to rise it is time for
us to stand stand up we shall not be
moved except by a child with no socks
and shoes if you’ve got more to give
than you’ve got to prove put your hands
up and I’ll copy you stand up stands up
we shall not be moved except by a woman
dying from a loss of food if you got
more to give and you got to prove put
your hands up and I’ll copy you we still
don’t understand thunder and lightning
flash back to when we didn’t fun the
damn didn’t find the damn levee no
wonder man now the whole damn city’s
torn asunder man under water but we
still don’t understand we see hurricane
spills overrun the land through gaps you
couldn’t fill with a hundred tons of
sand no we still don’t understand we
seen planes in the windows the buildings
crumbled and we seen flames in and chose
to London and we’ve sent planes to kill
them – some of them are children but
still be crumbled in the building
underfunded what we still don’t
understand under God when we kill like
the Son of Sam but if you feel like I
feel about the son of man we will
overcome stand up we shall not be moved
except by a child with no socks and shoe
if you got more to give than you got to
prove put your hands up and I’ll copy
you stand up their job we shall not be
moved except by a woman dying from the
loss of food so if you’ve got a dream
and a lot to do put your hands up and
I’ll copy you I said put your hands up
and I’ll copy you put your hands up and
I’ll copy you if you’ve got a dream and
a lot to do put your hands up
[Music]

all right we got one more song I’m gonna
teach y’all and this one goes out
specifically tonight Vincent Harding all
those people who came before us who
can’t be here with us because in order
to step into our futures we need to
bring our past with us so this song is
called voices of the day we’re trying to
invoke those people to teach to eat
crisis up lift this up instead
voices of the day voices crisis up ahead
crisis up and lift us up instead leave
this up and voices of the Dead Boys is
the day voices of the Dead boy I put my
hands up not seeking an escape I put my
hands up to bear to seize the day I was
stretched to carpet diem carpal tunnels
the mausoleums I’m trying to ride away
to the voices of my heroes I I was
stronger when your hands are on my
shoulder and taught me to be your
warrior but / soldier you got me and
that’s why I’ll push the boulder fall
with many hands like work that’s why
y’all of us to chose so stop drop and
roll out stop twisting hostile release
game is being reins my contacts cone
nozzle or a pocket dial I bring raise my
black ops in the talent pool brothers
dropping out like underfunded high
school Celeste jails more doors wide
selling fail you’re losing ground
deficits full score and hold the door
stuck in the loop that predicts the
final scene but the very words to them
won’t get the best of me with the are to
be able ever size the boys to never max
right now you’re posed in the bathroom
as fearless like there were no
Fahrenheit a parallel a paralyzed
building up a world where I’ll hear your
voice messes up ahead
Crash’s suffered lift these voices of
the dead voices voices of the Dead Boys
is twice this up ahead crisis little bit
love instead miss this voices of the
dead voices voices of the Dead Boys
crisis up ahead when she said lift this
up instead yes voices up the Dead Boys
voices up the dead Oh rise above the
threat rise above lift this up instead
his voices of the Dead thank you
you
