Bonjour guten tag ladies and gentlemen
my name is van Dyle and I’m from the
initiative neue Viet affiliate in front
limbs meter it’s like new values for the
rescue of food and today I want to talk
to you about how can we have an impact
against food waste to ensure a necessary
ready to bution
on our planet but first let’s start with
our story our story begins at the end of
my and my best friends Lars Academical
education and with this guy here maybe
some of you know him
his invention of ours digital generation
is called froggy
and this is his movement so what does
this mean
growing up in a generation as a digital
natives most of the people don’t know
what to do with their life because there
are so many options to choose and the
conclusion of this is disorientation and
frustration this generation don’t know
how to deal with failure so when they
are confronted with it they are
overwhelmed and from now on they choose
a secure life but don’t get me wrong I
like suits and I like wearing suits and
I like work but when I’m forced to do to
wear suits and working in a nine-to-five
job this is not my business so clever
enough allow me knew about the symptom
and take try and take the time to trying
to find our life target so we decide to
travel around the world the first stop
Australia like boys in our age the first
thing we do is yeah enjoying life
skateboarding
surfing some kind of stuff eating new
food and
hooking up with girls sometimes so but
always with the idea to experience life
and getting a different view on our
planet but you see after a few months
stupidly we have to go back to Germany
because our pockets were empty and we
have to say goodbye to Australia so back
in Germany we found us back in reality
but with the fresh open mind so we’re
looking for developing and an impact and
for our home country and founded in the
German supermarkets for all of you
German supermarkets are perfect all of
the food strictly ordered shiny and
glossy perfect for your eyes easy to
sell so let’s have an example let’s take
the banana this is the perfect banana
Goldy shiny the perfect form the perfect
curvature the perfect color I’ll show
you another example you see the
difference
first I don’t see too but then we go to
the supermarkets and ask for the mistake
so let me show you what was the cost for
food waste in Germany
in Germany there are aesthetic rules for
bananas to ensure that they can be sold
at supermarkets esthetic rules they say
these rules have nothing to do with
taste
it’s just form color curvature the
reasons why bananas are thrown away
can be brown spots but also the simple
fact that they are single so not part of
the bunch anymore what does this mean
in the opinion of the supermarket these
fruits are aesthetic incorrect and
further they throw them in the trash so
let me clear you up we are not talking
about unhealthy or something like that
if a banana is a little bit edgy but
healthy and tasty it is designed for the
trash so with the help of my pet and
every t ha our human friends please have
a look under your seats we place their
bananas which are rescue yesterday at
the hypermarket so clear yourself this
is a banana which you can eat but was
thrown in the trash and because of this
twelve point four tons of food are
wasted in Germany right now unbelievable
what says Ruggie
so our target was to rescue bananas from
that day on so we research the first
source of the wasted food in Germany
have found out that the first stage
takes place at German hypermarkets these
markets who deliver to the German
supermarkets so we’re getting in contact
with them this is what we see in the
hypermarkets fourteen thousand wasted
bananas healthy tasty every single day
just in one city from now on our goal
was developed an idea to rescue these
bananas with the small modification like
organizations like food sharing we want
to trick the supermarket’s with their
own weapons and want to recycle
incorrect food like this in our hands to
a new innovative and alternative product
and put it back to the German food
market
yeah but let’s take to Australia we
thought about our time on Australia
sitting at the beach where we tons of
banana bread which gets it perfect
chased from brown bananas like these
burners you have in your hands right now
and this product is still not available
in Germany so we decided to create our
first product against food waste we went
back to the soup to the hypermarkets and
then there was a situation of very
strange situations like hi we are boys
and we want to rescue food and we would
like to have some bananas yeah yeah it’s
no problem how many do you want
it’s just like 20 and then there was an
interruption 20 tons so what we’re just
like no just 20 for our first product an
alternative innovative product against
food waste yeah so from this day on we
get our first car of bananas and develop
with a very sustainable bakery and lots
of tests our first flavor to give it to
small cafes in our hometown for free and
the demand was huge it got higher and we
decided to develop like other flavors
like blueberry apple cinnamon or white
chocolate sounds tasty right from that
day on our city became our initiative
became a city talk and we are getting in
contact with very impressive and
inspiring people every single day so
we’re making new friends and in the next
step we thought about the power of
collaboration so
what does this mean a combining concept
of different cultures or tolerance to
enlarge a small interest of food waste
in Germany in a creative way to present
it to a bigger audience so we asked an
illustrator friend of us to create a
poster concept to reach out to different
kind of people who don’t know much about
this paradox disgrace in Germany the
result was a concept which shows
different banana characters who protest
against food waste in the urban space
she disliked this year slipped egg no
bananas illegal
I have a dream banana lives matter and
just some suit guys the next step we
hang it into the urban space presented a
bigger audience and also knowing the
significance of design of the viral
potential in our social society we do we
develop a small trick form so look at
this here sorry had to live every single
time so what is the result in a very
ambitious team of three people right now
we deliver 240 cafes 10 universities and
shipping within Germany through our own
online shop banana bread against food
waste to over 25 cities and yeah we
saved more than 10 tons of wasted food
per month and thinking of new innovative
products against paradox disgrace for a
sustainable world but the last thing I
want to say is I’m very honored and very
thankful to stay here we are developing
this idea for just two years and we are
not shrugging anymore so thank you and
banana lives matter
