Art Is A Language | Clarissa Mure | TEDxYouth@EB

[Music]
when I say art most of you would
probably think of painting sculpting and
drawing but art can also consist of
dancing acting and singing I feel that
art has always had kind of a veil over
it so people can only see the pen to
paper and hand crafted and completely
undermine everything else absolutely
incredible about art sometimes I could
feel lost you know as a preteen that
happens sometimes I could have trouble
with my friends or my workload at school
or just taking care of myself and my
pets at home when I do get into that
headspace I’d like to draw I found that
it is a lot easier to draw other than
expressing myself verbally I understand
that some people may not think that they
are necessarily good at drawing and
singing or acting but that has
absolutely nothing to do with
self-expression expressing yourself is
having a healthy outlet so you can
release all the pent-up energy that
refuses to come out verbally and of
course expression doesn’t always have to
be with art it could be with sports such
as baseball and football or just taking
a walk it’s really anything and when you
draw it doesn’t have to be some huge
project it could be little doodles like
plants animals and fancy letters I’m
just starting to find myself and
understand my emotions and I found that
it is a lot easier to draw what I’m
feeling because sometimes I just can’t
say it
sometimes I can have some anxiety for
the day whether it’s just something that
happened or for tests I may not have
well prepared for when I do get into the
headspace I like to draw it out just a
little bit of pen to paper to ease my
stress art helps me stay in one piece
mentally so I don’t completely have a
mental breakdown
and it can for you to thank you
