Тайная жизнь клерков на театральных подмостках | ЛОРА ПАЧИНИ | TEDxAlmaty

Wacka voice versus Taniya jisun an
evaluation ekobrew Alibaug Nica I work
with a lot of people who lead secret
lives by daytime they are University
students professors programís
accountants bankers but by night at 7
p.m. they transform into fairy
godmothers and princes and
revolutionaries and creatures are these
people crazy but they spend 3 hours a
night
four to six nights a week sweating and
emoting and performing and for what for
a safe place where one can feel free to
unleash creativity and to release the
tensions of daily routines
welcome to Celt kazakhstan english
language theater well yes they go
it’s a community of people who recognize
the need for the arts and creative
expression in order to grow and develop
as contributing members of society Celt
began in 2001 as a student organization
at key mep university it was born when a
couple students went to the Dean of
Student Affairs and asked if they could
use theatre plays to improve their
English and he accepted and through the
consistency of putting on plays every
semester Celt grew not only into a
student organization but into a
registered public fund and over the
years Celt has had over 500 actors we’ve
received grants to perform all over
Kazakhstan and Central Asia and we’ve
also created a thriving community of
people who consider Celt their home so I
joined Celt in 2011 when I first came to
Kazakhstan to teach at an educational
center so I directed a few smaller plays
for them and then they asked me to
direct Cinderella and we wanted to take
Cal to a new level to make it bigger and
better more professional than before and
that’s what happened Cinderella became
the first licensed Broadway production
to be entirely produced in Kazakhstan
let’s take a short look

so in order to do this show we receive
donations funding both locally and
abroad and thanks to our awesome
marketing team we actually were
fortunate to sell out all of our shows
before opening night so it was really a
truly amazing experience but I think for
me personally the most amazing thing was
to see the transformation of our actors
because I remember during casting we had
about 110 I think people audition and I
remember thinking oh my goodness how are
we gonna turn them into ballroom dancers
they can’t even dance a two-step we’re
thinking we know we were never gonna
find a singer who didn’t sound like an
off-key wannabe diva pop star but
through a tremendous amount of hard work
I think our actors even shocked
themselves at their own transformation
and so connecting to the theme tonight
the performance the audience saw was the
bright side of the moon but the other
side of the Moon was the countless hours
of work for seven months three hours a
night four to six nights a week after an
eight-hour workday or a full schedule of
classes of performing acting singing and
dancing it was a lot of work but yet
they did it for the love of theater and
also for the love of each other and just
like the committed volunteers of TEDx
who made this conference happen all of
our directors our crew our actors they
all volunteer their time because of what
they love and so tonight I would like to
present to you a short medley from
Cinderella about to perform for you are
