Whether you see Christ as a preacher or a son of God
There is something special in his view of love
He did not speak too much about love alone
He even taught people a sudden love
It has happened – as mentioned in the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 7 – that he went to a dinner party where a prostitute appeared
I am sure of its presence.
But Christ was friendly and gentle and defended her against criticism of all of her
In a way that surprised everyone, he insisted that she was a good person inside her.
There is another story – mentioned in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 8 – that approached him a man with leprosy (leprosy).
He was in a shabby condition.
But he did not loathe, and he stretched out his hand and handed him over.
Despite the appalling appearance, there was (in the eyes of Christ) a person worthy of closeness and kindness.
In a similar way, in other times, he was saying that tax collectors, thieves, and adulterers
Do not see outside the circle of love.
After several centuries of his death,
The leading medieval thinker, Thomas Aquinas, defined what Jesus meant by his love
“A man who truly understands love can love anyone,” he said.
In other words: true love is not dedicated to its destination or future
It does not focus on specific qualities
It is universal for all humanity
Even (and another explanation, in particular) the least attractive part.
Nowadays, this may seem a strange definition of what love is
Our thoughts about love are almost akin to a dramatic experience
Such as falling in love,
That is, finding a specific person, very attractive, amused and free from defects.
That is, we see love in response to the perfection we see in another person.
But, through stark examples – there is an important concept of love being imposed before us.
We do not need to be Christians (that is, we do not need to believe that there is an afterlife or that Christ was born of a virgin mother) in order to benefit from this concept.
At the core of this kind of love is the effort to look beyond the “not attractive” appearance of another person
And looking for a gentle, entertaining, fearful, and sensitive person within him.
What is known as “Ijtihad” in love
The effort to search our emotions and imaginations in order to see beyond the outward appearance.
But our minds tend to resist such actions.
They prefer to follow the methods you know and see them as familiar and correct.
For example, if someone insultes us, we will see him as a bad person
And just the idea that it may be wounded also looks strange.
If the appearance of someone is strange, we find it difficult to believe the possibility of having nice or good things in their characters.
If bad events happen in someone’s life
– that is, if he is dismissed from work or becomes heavily drunk or even has cancer –
We tend to hold them accountable for what happens to them.
We need to fight our minds out of these inherent ideas.
To do this, we have to look at someone who is not attractive in appearance and imagines it in his childhood
Playing on his floor his room innocently.
Or we may try to imagine his mother after his birth
Carrying it in her hands, and swept by the passion of love for this little living creature
Or perhaps, drunk and asleep, ignoring his desperate screams
We may see a very nervous person in a restaurant
He speaks aggressively and complains that the tomato sauce is placed in the wrong side of the dish
But instead of judging him, we can imagine the life that forced this man to be what he is now
And the extent of feeling helpless about something
(And we do not mean what he is complaining about right now)
Conquer it to the core.
The more we consume the energies of our minds to think in this way, the closer we come to discovering a surprising fact:
We can actually see lovely parts in almost every person.
But this does not mean wavering in the search for qualities that we want in our life partner.
It is just a way of knowing that even the most kindly person will require us to use our imagination
To try to overlook some of the bad qualities in it.
Of course, this view will not be for us alone.
We also make it harder for others to deal with us
So we also need to
Who imagines us and looks at us with a look of tenderness, rather than looking at us like any other monster – or jerk.
