PSYCHOTHERAPY – Melanie Klein

Melanie Klein is a very original psychoanalyst who was born in a Jewish family in Vienna.
She was exposed to Freud’s work at the age of 32 and devoted her life to developing and refining his research.
Make psychoanalysis more meaningful and interesting
Klein was born in 1882 and she wants to be a doctor, but her father does not allow
Also forced her to marry a boring man
They have no common language at all, she is very bored, and her sexual life is not satisfied.
But psychoanalysis saved her. She left her husband, read all the information she could get, and went to the lecture.
Then publish the paper with one’s own strength
Soon after, her research direction separated from Freud and began to focus on an area that has been ignored by psychoanalysts:
Child psychoanalysis
Freud has always questioned the feasibility of children’s research
He believes that children’s brains are not yet mature enough to conduct subconscious observation and analysis.
But Klein believes that psychoanalysts can study how children play with toys.
Get valuable information in their inner world
She was filled with pony, villain, and small train in the consultation room, calling herself a child psychoanalyst.
She started a clinic in Berlin, then moved to London in 1926 and lived there all the time.
In her research, Klein wants to understand the growth of the human spirit:
Simple “seeking happiness” impulse from infancy
How to evolve into a mature personality
She especially wants to know what mistakes may be made in this process and how it affects people’s mental health.

In her book, Children’s Psychoanalysis, published in 1932, she described the psychological difficulties faced by infants and toddlers.

Fragile, totally dependent on adults, unable to understand what is going on around
Klein wrote: Baby can’t realize that the creature around him is human
They have their own real world and independent ideas
In the few weeks since birth, the child does not even have the “mother” cognition
According to Klein’s theory, “mother” is a pair of breasts
Sometimes not, randomly appearing, unpredictable
All the feelings of the baby on the mother are the alternating pain and strong happiness.
When there is breast and breast milk, the baby will feel a primitive calm and satisfaction.
This feeling is filled with peace, gratitude and kindness.
This kind of feeling will be closely related to love in the adult stage.
In love, the breast continues to play a variety of important roles.
But when the breasts disappear inexplicably, the baby will feel hungry, angry, afraid, and vengeful.

Klein believes that babies will adopt a primitive defense mechanism
To avoid getting into unbearable anxiety. Baby identifies mother as two breasts
a good one, a bad one
Baby and its hateful bad breasts, want to bite, completely destroy this evil existence
Good breasts are revered as perfection
Good breasts are revered as perfection
As the child develops healthily, this splitting symptom gradually eases
The child slowly found that there were no complete good breasts and no complete bad breasts.
Both are part of the mother and contain both positive and negative emotions
Happiness and depression, pleasure and pain
So the child discovered a key point in Klein’s theory:
Contradictory emotion
Can create contradictory feelings for someone, Klein believes that it is an important breakthrough in the development of human spirit
Is the first milestone for children to reach adults
But this is not once and for all, not even necessarily
A healthy child can only gradually understand the difference between “intention” and “reality”.
The difference between “Mother wants to do” and “Kids feel”
These complex psychological activities, called Klein
“Depressed heart”
During this time, the child is very clear and very depressed.
They subconsciously feel that reality is much more complicated than imagined, and that good and evil are difficult to divide.
Mother or anyone else can’t simply be responsible for one thing
Complete good or evil is almost non-existent, everything is a confusing mixture of good and evil.
Complete good or evil is almost non-existent, everything is a confusing mixture of good and evil.
This is very difficult for children to accept. Klein believes that this can explain the serious and far-sighted eyes of children when they are distracted.
These little ones look wise and serious
They are thinking about the moral problems of good and evil in the adult world.
They are thinking about the moral problems of good and evil in the adult world.
However, unfortunately, according to Klein’s theory, not everyone can experience depression.
Some people will stay in the original split state, she calls it
“Paranoid-splitting like heart”
This state will last for many years, even continuing into adulthood.
They can’t accept ambiguous things, they always maintain a simple emotion, either love or hate
They idealized the world and found scapegoats for mistakes
In love, they will love everything, and there will always be a moment
When the lover does something disappointing, their attitude reverses instantly and no longer accepts any emotions.
These unfortunate people will constantly look for new perfect lovers.
However, every time you are broken, it will be broken by a small mistake.
However, every time you are broken, it will be broken by a small mistake.
We don’t have to receive every detail of Klein’s theory.
But her theory undoubtedly provides us with a mature psychological standard that looks unusual but works well.
We often have an impulse
Just pay attention to what others can do for themselves, such as feeding, giving pocket money, and we are happy
In fact, everyone is a complex living entity with different forms and is diversified. Observing and noting that this difference is a painful process

Melanie Klein helps us realize that dealing with ambiguous relationships
Is an important part of our growth and maturity – and we have never really done it.
If you have not been depressed (depressed heart), this growth process will be very sad.
