PHILOSOPHY – Epicurus

This philosopher helped us to think about money, capitalism, and consumer societies.
Epicurus is a Greek philosopher born in 341 BC
What made him famous is that he spent most of his life trying to solve the biggest mystery:
What makes people happy?
From the previous philosophers, they fought at length to make people friendly
But Epicurus preferred to think of it through what is “fun”
Unfortunately, the world was bitter and bitter even then
When people heard that Epicurus had set up a school to study happiness
Rumors have been launched
There were tales, the fact that the school gave ten lessons in the celebrations, and the madness every night.
One of the critics said: “Epicurean” claims to reach orgasm 18 times in one night on a bed full of virgins.
It was not true.
Epicurean and his followers were studying happiness, but they applied it with great awareness
The philosopher owned only two mantles, and lived on bread and olives. For fun, a piece of cheese from time to time.
As for the bedroom, he announced he had married philosophy
He studied happiness patiently for several years
Epicur has come up with fascinating and revolutionary conclusions about “What do we really need to be happy”
Epicurus believes that we make three mistakes when thinking about happiness
First, we believe that happiness means romance and sexual relations.
But Epicurean turned around and saw a lot of unhappy couples.
Their marriage was mixed with jealousy, misunderstanding, deceit and bitterness.
At the same time, he noted that friendship is more beautiful
How people tend to be tactful and humble with their friends
Friendship seems to make human nature in its most beautiful state.
The only problem Epicurus noticed was that we did not see our friends enough.
Second, we think we need a lot of money to be happy.
But in fact, we tend not to make unreasonable sacrifices to bring in money.
Jealousy absence long hours
What makes the work satisfactory is Epicurean, not money
It is the ability to work alone, or in small groups, as in a bakery, or in a boat repair workshop
When we feel we are helping others
In our own way, simple things can improve the world
In fact it’s not big things
We want to enter it
It’s the desire to make a difference
And others
Epicurus noted how much we were concerned about luxury
Especially with regard to houses
And quiet and beautiful places
But apart from our love for well-being
There is something else we are trying to get
What we want is a feeling of reassurance
We want our brains pure
Free, not full of boredom and chaos
But the big question is
Is it really luxury
Make us reassuring?
Epicurean was not sure
In view of the deep happiness
Epicurus announced a revolutionary view
New, are you really need
Three things to be happy
in this life
First, you need to be around your friends
No sex, no nudity, just your friends
It is enough to see them now only,
Hence, it is systematic
Communication between you, then, is the work of that thing
Which most of us dream of doing from time to time
But do not do
He bought a big house and started
Live with all his friends
Everyone had his own place
It is welcome to share other places
There is always a good person to talk to in the kitchen
Second,
Everyone is not the way he works
Everyone stopped working for other people
Their wages were reduced
As a result of their own work
Some cultivate, others cook, others write
Third,
Epicurus and his team changed the idea that you could
Be reassured only by looking beautiful
They ridiculed themselves
To get Nirvana from within their minds,
To spend time with themselves
Thinking, writing things,
Reading things, meditation
The experiment succeeded
Great success, members
They were very happy, the idea spread
Like wildfire
The Epicurean communities opened in every region
Mediterranean Sea, and at the height of the movement
There were 400,000 people
Belonging to this movement from Spain to Palestine
Christian Church
This movement ended in the fifth century
But because of the majority’s respect for the movement
Turn it all over
To monasteries, and what we know
As monasteries were all of the Epicurean movement only
With a Christian facade
Another interesting fact
Ph.D. thesis for Karl Marx
It was about Epicurean, and what we call communism
Is a system
Failing well
It is fuzzy, and damaged
Not a successful model of the Epicurean
The true heritage
Epicure is
That humans are not good at making themselves happy
Simply because they think it is very easy
We believe that sex-related,
Money, luxury
Just want to know how to secure all this
But Epicurean does not agree with this
Reflect on the moments that bring you happiness
And actually do it
Have the courage to change your life
According to the moments they bring
You are really satisfied
It is possible to reach a stage that lives in a completely different way
Outside the country, you have a little cheese
Some dresses, and a few books of philosophy
And some good friends around you
