The idea that work may be satisfactory, rather than just painfully necessary, is a recent idea.
Open the famous Dr. Johnson Johnson Dictionary of 1755, and you will not find the term “complacency”.
These days, in this booming world, we do not expect to save just some money through our work,
But also, to the extent that it may increase or decrease, we expect to find meaning and satisfaction
It is a big question and helps explain why many of us have experienced professional crises often at the beginning of the sunset on the last day of the weekend.
In order to help us find a satisfactory job, here are six useful ideas:
First, it accepts that confusion about professional marches is quite natural.
In the world before the industrial revolution, there were about 2000 professions,
Now there are about half a million options
The result: We may become very afraid of making the wrong decision, and we end up not taking any decision at all.
Psychologists call this case the “paradox of choice”, a deficit that occurs because of the multitude of options.
We must admit that confusion is a natural thing, and that fear is normal
But we do not allow these two things to spoil our chances forever
Second, know yourself
They are the oldest philosophical recommendations, and they also have a special relevance to the professions.
For 99% of us, knowing what we want to do does not arise automatically.
Such as, for example, knowing what we want to eat
Most of us have no “appeal”
We do not hear a divine voice ordering us to go to accounting, packaging or distribution.
But that does not mean that we do not have senses or tendencies, we just do not understand them clearly and sufficiently
This is a risky situation, because if we do not have a plan, we will soon be at the mercy of those who have a plan
We only hint at small signs and little hints of our tendencies.
If we have to do is pick up and understand these faint sounds:
Start by trying not to think about financial concerns for some time
Financial panic often suppresses internal dialogue with the inherent and passionate aspects of our nature.
I write, and without trying to overly analyze, everything I enjoyed doing or making
Which may include the construction of tree houses, or the sorting of winter clothes.
The more strange and perverse the list, the better.
In this long and tangled list there will be, somewhere, the ideal form of our future workforce,
But it will be very chaotic, and you will need a deep and intensive analysis
Here comes the role of philosophy,
Philosophy is the art of explaining and demanding logic from our first thoughts.
Third, think a lot.
If it may take several days, or even a week, until you choose a new car
It may take a year or more of continuous daily thinking to find the right career
We may be guilty of this: we think that we are behaving excessively, which is not true
We may have to devote each weekend to several months to discover a solution to our greatest dilemmas.
To make sure that we do not spend the rest of our lives stuck in a job that our uncivilized people chose when we were 16 years old
We need to be generous about how much time we will devote to thinking about this.
Fourth, try something.
It is tempting to think that we can imagine the nature of the working environment
And the nature of our characters just by thinking and imagining, but we need realistic data,
We can understand ourselves and understand others only through friction with the outside world,
So that we can better understand the nature of this world and our nature
We need to take small and inconclusive steps to gather information
For example, by seeing employees, training or volunteering.
We should not think that we should resign on the first day of the week
We can explore and explore our future through multiple projects as well as our current functions.
Fifth, think about things that make others unhappy.
Every successful business is basically trying to solve someone else’s problem
The bigger and more pressing the problem, the greater the chance
Even exercise your mind, think of the normal day and all the things that might make someone unhappy
From losing keys to the house, or having a slightly greasy food, and to arguing again with the spouse
All these things are jobs waiting for someone to exploit them
It is an opportunity to provide a service, and work simply is a provision for various services.
It’s easy to imagine that everything has been tried and done in advance, but that’s pure nonsense
We are so miserable that capitalism will have many centuries full of inventions and creations.
Sixth, trust yourself.
There are a lot of self-help books that focus on self-confidence
It may be tempting to dismiss the whole subject and consider it nonsense
But in a strange and somewhat modest way,
The difference between success and failure sometimes seems to be the courage to experiment with something
The ability to imagine self in a position of importance, the ability to imagine no need to ask permission from anyone
Many senior positions belong only to those who offer and boldly to claim them.
Mistrust is basically a misunderstanding of how the world is going
It is self-feudalism based on the imagination that certain people, but not some of them, are entitled, and inevitably, to certain things.
This is never true
As we know, there are far more things to be said than we might have thought in our moments of uncertainty and hesitation.
What these are but the beginning of the road towards a profession will not regret them in the bed of death, which should always be the ultimate standard.
