this marker is the border between Kenya
and Tanzania the wildebeest migration is
for the most part still in Tanzania
we’re waiting in Kenya on the banks of
the Mara River for the migration to get
there when they get there it’s going to
be spectacular
there are huge crocodiles they were all
really hungry because they haven’t eaten
in a long time and all those wildebeest
want to cross the river to get to the
other side where the grass is greener
what are you filming this is poor
wildebeest here in the middle of the
river came with a group of hundreds of
wildebeest across the river and we
thought that he’d gotten grabbed by a
crocodile by the back leg and so we’ve
been filming him as all the rest of the
herd left has gone far gone and this guy
stuck in the river and it’s been so long
now that there’s no way he can be a
crocodile he’s this must have stuck his
foot between some rocks and he’s just
pinned there and the poor thing is just
eyes wide open and he’s just looking all
around he’s terrified every now and then
he puts up a little struggle but I think
he’s I think he’s exhausted and and
completely freaked out this this river
is is full of giant crocodiles and
I mean the fate of his wildebeest we’re
reading for him we hope he gets out
because would be so triumphant look look
here he goes again struggling you know
you seen so many wildebeest get killed
here most of them are our babies and you
think Oh God you know that’s just how
can you handle it none oh it’s just so
many of them but then when it comes down
to just one I mean look at that poor
thing he’s just stuck right dead center
in the middle of the river and his ears
drop and he kind of lets his head sink
into the water a little bit and his nose
falls into the water and then he just
starts breathing you know you see air
bubbles coming out of his nose and then
he lifts his head up again and looks
around his eyes open up and it gets I
mean he the poor guy it’s just horrible
the thing is is that the more he
struggles the more tired he’s going to
get and but if he doesn’t struggle he’s
never going to get out of there
I don’t know can’t imagine what’s going
through his head we always joke that
these things they don’t have anything
going on in their head but you know
again when you individualize them
changes everything I’ve been with this
wildebeest all afternoon but he’s got to
go now sunsetting the real question is
whether he’ll survive you know the night
a lot of Crocs around but they’ll come
back first thing in the morning and find
out
