Up Oshetna Creek Without a Paddle | Alaska State Troopers

the men are two days late checking in on
a notorious unforgiving backcountry for
the unprepared it can mean a one-way
trip there kind of half expected to have
this stuff happen when you get back in
that country and so they’re prepared for
it hopefully they’re not then we have to
step in of course going way back up in
that country a lot of things could have
happened
trooper Dan Dahl takes to the skies in a
state issue single-engine Piper 150 if
they’re injured and need rescuing he can
land his Piper on the only runway
possible the water it may be their only
chance
trooper galls only lead is the last
known location of the hunters campsite
the family had given us some initial
coordinates to go to
come up and hounsou that leave me
voluntarily yam pick up doll dive down
for a closer look
but it’s empty the family never made it
we did find their camp that they had
reported to be at but they weren’t there
the vacant camp confirms the hunters are
stranded or worse dolls only chance at
finding them is to backtrack the trail
they would have taken in but the trail
continually crosses deadly obstacles the
area’s wild rivers
we got the black river would it look
like it was too crazy
hi now we’re coming up on I was
on the little not a linear form for
they’re the ones where you make them up
do it they when we hit deal no we
hadn’t found any sign of them if the
hunters got stuck crossing a flooded
river the rushing waters could have
easily washed them downstream we ended
up falling oh nob forever
trooper Dahl continues flying scanning
the ground for the hunters or their
vehicle still no sign of the family then
it is the Dodge Dakota campground back
in sideways I’m on it’s right side
passenger side entry like they had some
trouble
