the first time we saw hun tumbleweeds
tumbling I mean let me just like
squealing when I got a little kids in
the candy circle I go about there goes
like when you’re on this search it’s
this quest you know to find them and
then they find you it’s really exciting
each mature plant has a quarter of a
million seeds in it and each of those
seeds is protected by a very sharp thorn
and you look at it you say oh it’s this
nice lacy thing that rolls along and
then you touch it and your hand is
filled with spikes it came from Russia
that’s why it’s called Russian thistle
and the American icon rice not very good
at all to me they always seem to end up
next to another tumbleweed on offense I
think for me it was problematic that not
all tumbleweeds are interesting looking
mmm and so I was really searching out
the great specimens it was fun to
actually go on this chase
it was so interesting doing a landscape
story you know about this because you do
all this research you find out the winds
pick up in the afternoon you know
they’re coming from the West but still
again you just got a search this guy
never done so much driving in our life
so we should have kept a log of how many
miles we put in on this maybe Hertz can
tell us but there is a lot of tense
moments in that car
yeah I’m wanting to go south and you
wanted to go north usually really this
was one of the few times I won that
argument I was right I always defer to
