can you create shots that breathe and
last long like can you create imagery
that might last two or three minutes and
sustain people’s interest we had this
idea of making a film with this guy Dean
Potter this project got off to an
amazing start because one of the ideas
that Dean had pitched us for an ultimate
shot that will last time a National
Geographic and Dean had said I think if
you guys were at Yosemite during the
right time of year we’ll have to figure
out the date the moon will rise and the
Sun will set at the exact same time and
if you guys were like a mile away or
more you could probably pull the moon in
and all Dean said was I know the
location you just need to get the
biggest lens you can possibly get so we
sat there and we pitched this idea and
to see it come to fruition was in large
part due to the fact that Mikey was able
to spend a bunch of time in Yosemite
before we got there planning everything
out figuring out exactly where the moon
would line up and get his positioning on
the top of Medlicott dome to shoot it
and this is mikey Schafer’s photograph
and we kept calling it the moon shot the
moon shot this isn’t a fake shot that
light is actually real on the rocks and
here’s the moonwalk which came from the
moon shot
