I can smell fish I smell them after more
than two decades on the Delaware Rays
nose has been trained to the smell of
eels and he can tell money is here for
the taking I can’t wait look what’s
underneath there when I look over the
side of that eel rack and I’m starting
to see a couple of tails coming up out
of the bottom of the drop I’m just
sparkly eyed with anticipation
oh boy we got fish
it’s like Christmas like waking up the
nine-year-old and finding a pony its
outstanding
well holy rays hit the jackpot that
doesn’t mean he can cash his check just
yet
first he’s got to get them back to the
tank and squirmy needles aren’t easy
cargo once we saw how much is there we
couldn’t just put him in pails and hump
them down I’m loading that boat up with
some water so that I can put him in
there and keep alive till we get him
down humping off into the live tanks I’m
gonna start harvesting these guys and
get him in the boat this is absolutely
marvelous we start extracting the yields
from underneath booming them into the
boat and that’s doing real good there’s
a lot of fish in here

that’s $20 right there like Santa for
gold he got calling the pan you got call
it if you don’t you don’t kids we got
color no that is right there 150 bucks
that’s it that’s the catch for today
that was a significant bonus without
about it for most people getting in a
boat with dozens of eels would be a
nightmare but for ray is just another
day in the office you’ll have eels going
along your leg up your pant leg all over
the place but that’s fishing kids
