T. Rex Arrives in Washington, D.C. | National Geographic

after many years of work the nation’s
t-rex has arrived my team the excavation
team all of us that worked on that years
ago we’re pretty excited that’s coming
here
you know you do all this work and now
there’s gonna be so many more people to
appreciate this is a really significant
thing for us you know we’ve never had a
complete t-rex of any kind at the
Smithsonian so this is a first it’s
going to be a centerpiece of the new
exhibit so once we open our new fossil
hauls this is going to be one of the
most prominent things you see it’s an
ambassador for paleontology and
therefore it’s an ambassador for the
whole museum for our visitors and it’s a
great opportunity for education and for
outreach and so it’s going to have an
incredibly prominent role
it’s been at the Museum of the Rockies
comes really from the Army Corps of
Engineers and now is on loan to us for
50 years I think it’s very important for
the Smithsonian to have one of the most
complete t-rex here where we have
visitors from all over the world so I
think to have something of this
significance in the Smithsonian in the
heart of the Capitol means a lot for all
the visitors and people that have come
through
