Sustainability: Bluefin Bait | Wicked Tuna

No Gragas color
what has been most detrimental to this
fishery was the hairy draggers could
their call pair trawlers they scooped up
tons and tons of herring herring is the
natural feed for the tuna fish so if
there’s no feed the tuna fish don’t come
if tuna fish don’t come we can’t catch
them we can’t survive when these fish
are out roaming to eat they go to the
restaurant if there’s no food they go to
the next restaurant fish have two things
on our mind that’s sex and food and if
there’s no food they’re gonna keep
moving on they wiped out the bait that
the total fish eat tuna fish are not
going to come here if there’s nothing
for them to eat so the fish would come
here as they do every year with no food
they move on and most of them wind up in
Canada where there’s plenty of hurry
over the years as the bait situation got
worse and worse and worse the giant tuna
didn’t show up you could sit out there
for days and never even mark where on
the machine
you haven’t even seen any fish nevermind
Ketchum which is not not a good thing
but now the bait has come back big fish
right now dave comes another one cute
straight-up National Marine fishery has
imposed new regulations on herring boats
we’re on we’re on
and that really has allowed the hurry to
come back and great numbers and that’s
why we’re seeing so many more fish here
in the last couple of years
progressively as the bait got better so
did deficient all of a sudden this year
people are catching eight nine thousand
pounders I believe that the next 10
years the fishing is gonna get better
and better and better
he’s a keeper thank God that the fishery
smarted up and and finally controlled
the herring catch which is really making
it good for all of us it’s a beautiful
thing
