Salameh is quite an interesting
character in the bible she basically is
the person that ends up asking for John
the Baptist’s head but her mother is the
brains behind it all she is a young girl
growing up in a family unit that are
telling her what’s right and wrong
she basically hears her parents and the
way they work and dislike John the
Baptist and she realizes that she
doesn’t either we must be careful the
Baptist has to follow us even here he
has a curse upon us he’s bringing these
new ideas and it’s not their way of
living and it could essentially harm
them all mother he’s the one who
slanders our house so her asking for the
head of John the Baptist is is an end to
it all really she’ll see so here and
there and show us – and she believes
that that is the right thing to do but I
don’t think she ever realizes the
seriousness of it until until it happens
I don’t think her mother does either
really they’re powerful women they’re
very very powerful and and that’s what I
like about her that’s what I’m sort of
enjoy playing with the kind of innocence
mixed with this really kind of powerful
woman underneath that that can actually
kill a guy yeah I’ve always been very
interested in her and when I read the
script what I really liked is the fact
that beyond everything there is this
innocent girl underneath it all and um
there is a scene that we shot the other
day actually where she is terrified
she’s terrified of of what is going on
she’s been dreaming about John the
Baptist’s head being next to her and she
sleeps not another dream of the Baptist
I gave the sleep the rest I so
desperately need I think it was
important for me to show a different
side to her she’s not just this evil
woman that she’s often portrayed as
she’s she’s she’s got a heart
she just doesn’t she’s just misled it’s
an epic piece and I think we’ve sort of
just been concentrating really I think
just making these people human and
people that you know can relate to them
more than anything else and portraying
the story in the best way possible
