I’ve been active in social media just
because it’s a little bit fun for me I
have these thoughts every day of my life
I’ve always had them these just little
snippets so I wonder if that I wonder if
we didn’t that’s kind of curious huh and
I have these thoughts and they would i
would have them and then they would
evaporate and no one would know about
them except me and then twitter comes
along i say hey i can place that thought
in a tweet I got it like ponent you know
and carve it so that it’s this and all
rap but the five had the thought but I
got that and then I realized people were
resonating with it people liked it and
they we measure that by do they retweet
it if they don’t care they’re not
retweeting that they’re not wasting your
their friends time on what anything I
would have said but people would retweet
it and then this was my evidence that
there was an underserved underbelly of
curiosity that perhaps lurks within us
all
maybe it’s there from childhood when we
were all curious about the natural world
perhaps that flame is childhood is now
just diminished to a low ember glowing
ember I just have to fan it and bring it
back I think I can do that in a few
cases other others word is completely
extinguished well that’s a little harder
you have to reignite it but at least
there was something there left over from
childhood I’m finding that practically
everyone has a little bit of that in
them and it’s a curiosity about the
natural world so I think social media
can be especially potent as a vessel as
a vehicle for delivering not only
information but stimulating people to
become curious once again and there is
Chris Hatfield singing a pop song in
space and he’s liking it we all knew the
song he’s an astronaut and you reminded
maybe that astronauts are people too
he’s one of us he likes the same things
we like yes fun the way we have fun
maybe the future of space is not that of
just
the right stuff maybe it’s anyone wants
to explore
