Shamanistic Potion | National Geographic

the taste is very distinctive it’s it’s
kind of oh how do you describe it it’s
bitter but it feels warm already
as the hallucinogenic potion takes
effect the shamans begin their ikura
songs
they extinguish the candles to help us
see visions more clearly I’m starting to
see things differently
that I know there are the things that I
can see that they are the constrained
people’s faces
and the shadows on the
things
it’s not alarming it’s not unpleasant
but it was briefly as I looked at it I
was thinking that’s quite scary the
effects of ayahuasca can vary greatly
depending on the dose vomiting and
diarrhea are common people sometimes
experience terrifying visions and
believe they’re going to die but the
shamans singing keeps my experience
positive
this feels too good
I somehow feel it’s not supposed to feel
so pleasant as the ceremony continues my
logical mind struggles to make sense of
the visions this is pretty complicated I
just um the ayahuasca ceremony is still
going on behind me and I just want to
try and remember some things I saw
patterns on Jorge the loner I was
thinking as doubt is that what a healthy
body looks like when he’s looking at a
healthy body under the influence of
ayahuasca is that what he sees because
the patterns were regular and it made
sense and it was there was beautiful it
was good to look at I think that their
songs they are
they are patents as well as a sound I
get the feeling that they are laying out
a visionary road ahead of them they’re
they know what’s coming up next they
know they know what effect the songs
have
