Selling Survival: Episode 6: Bug-Out Gear | National Geographic

[Music]
hi I’m Brooklyn Bagwell the casting
director of doomsday preppers on
National Geographic we are in Prescott
Valley at the Arizona survivalist and
prepper Expo even though it’s raining
there’s already a line out the door so
let’s go inside and check it out Arizona
has a very enthusiastic prepper base you
know I’ve kind of been a prepper my
whole life and I’m getting introduced to
some handy tools that would make any
lady Preppers life a little easier
well mommies is a survival bag and it’s
geared for women and moms it all fits in
this bag which is a military-style bag
for many reasons because of the comfort
of it the sturdiness of it and then also
the color so if you did have to hide it
you could hide it but inside of it I
wanted lots of color because color
brings comfort to people I can agree
with yes so we have a reusable pad –
made by Gladrags and Gladrags you can
wash them you can reuse them we also
have the Go Girl and we love our go
girls because they allow us to be a man
in a sense they’re gonna let you stand
you don’t have to drop your pants you
don’t have to expose yourself which is
huge on top of it we have our Swedish
fire knife kind of like my kitchen knife
I get pillow potato with this I wouldn’t
I’m not afraid of this knife so it also
has the fire stick in it so you can make
your spark and you can start a fire and
what all of my bags come with besides
the fire knife is a little tin of dryer
lint
cuz dryer lint is super flammable
alright first try a mommy bag is one key
camouflaged item but my next stop has
everything you need for a full getup so
I was Sean with stop and shop a military
surplus and he’s going to show me the
best way to camouflage yourself when you
are bugging out depending on the
situation we have the bulletproof vest
this is actual military bulletproof vest
there’s ceramic plates in it that’ll
stop an armor-piercing round this will
stop the machine that yes and it’ll
actually absorb the bullet so this
doesn’t ricochet around
let me try not I’m sure Ken heavy wears
boots
probably about 30 pounds I want to put
on something that will really you know
camouflage me so this is the the new
multicam that the the army currently
issues ok this is your battle shirts
those are moisture wicking so they help
that control like your body moisture and
stuff like that to keep you cool oh okay
the last night wear a turtleneck Oh
Laura are these the short those are the
shorts
and they can’t match my heel and when
you’re done with that they have the gas
mask and this will protect you from all
the nerve agents and my goodness
slide it back over it’s kind of this
also has your drinking tube so if you
have a canteen you can actually drink
out of your canteen with the with the
mask on but during a crisis clean water
might be scarce we have the drinking
water made by Mayday this will last you
a day yeah that would probably last you
probably a half a day music music two to
three easier by wagon last year yeah
okay it’s okay
it’s it’s um it’s good it’s good there’s
no the worst thing I’ve had it’s like
the Gatorade with electrolytes in it so
that helps you build up you don’t have
to drink I need to get some lemon in my
way up
camouflage can give you an advantage in
the face of disaster but the basics like
food and water are still keen and next
time I’ll check out a sustainable food
system that should satisfy all your
culinary needs you could grow anything
you want
