I’m Brooklyn Bagwell casting director
for doomsday preppers here at the
self-reliance Expo in Denver Colorado
over the last three seasons I’ve met a
lot of Preppers it’s great when I get to
see old friends from the show again
because they’ve always got some new
tricks to teach me today we have season
shoes veteran snake blocker he was our
Apache survivalist as a trained martial
artist and knife fighter snake blocker
teaches Apache survival tactics for
self-defense since we last saw him he’s
developed some new knives including his
own versions of some traditional weapons
like the tomahawk even better than that
I’m going to show you the Apache Falcon
which is actually the heavy of the heavy
duties I’m ready for a knife fight
so the Apaches call is the sky grip the
blades pointed to the sky that’s an easy
way to remember it
okay and now we’re gonna turn it the
opposite way this is called the Talon
grip Talon grip and it comes from the
eagle’s talons the claws coming down its
prey this one’s gonna be called mark
down with zigzags and it’s called that
because there’s an old Apache legend
about this kid who got bit by a
rattlesnake they cut him down all the
way down the middle they sucked out the
poison and they quickly sewed him back
up and when they sold the kid back up he
had marks all over his body from top to
bottom our grip is the Talon grip I mean
it’s lightning strike lightning strike
lightning strike piercing Buffalo to
make sense yeah but I just wish we were
using a fake time with the right size
knife proper grip and technique a
smaller person can equalize the gap
between themselves and a larger
assailant don’t like actually stab me
well we’ll see what happens right now if
you’re smart you’ll kind of like lock
out the elbows here and I can’t really
get you right you have a good good
defense there at least for a small
amount of time my foots gonna step back
and my hands gonna wiggle and I’m gonna
twist out because the more I twist the
more your hand releases and hopefully I
can get you a little cut right here
right just like yeah but we’re gonna go
where you just kind of release the hands
as I wiggle so that way you don’t cut
yourself okay got that
you got my hand past you I’m gonna be
honest
never trust a man named snake oh my god
you didn’t get cut yet high-five okay hi
guys I want you to just jerk that hand
back
well I don’t know I want you to shove me
like nice and hard jerk and pull back
that’s it you did it okay did it
Oh practice makes perfect and knowing
the proper knife fighting technique can
put you at an advantage in a sticky
situation
next time I’ll test out some new tools
designed to give you a leg up when it
comes to self-defense
