the Samburu tribe are also known as the
butterfly people and probably so all you
have to do is look at their incredibly
beautiful adornments the bright colors
that they wear and the pride that they
take in their appearance and it’s easy
to see the comparison to a beautiful
butterfly the MU get is a moron
initiation ceremony from junior warrior
two senior warrior status this ceremony
happens once every 7 years each warrior
will slaughter a cow and drink blood
directly from its neck it’s a
traditional way to remind them of this
role that they have as protectors of the
community this is something for the men
to do this is where the Warriors are and
it’s a bonding thing for them

the community comes together when men
and women celebrate all is one dancing
and singing the women flinging their
beaded necklaces back and forth to the
rhythm it was almost like a trance

the jumping is part of the dance
these men are getting extremely high off
the ground from a standing position
they’re not running and jumping they’re
starting from complete standstill their
entire bodies are rigid and an imperfect
posture and they look like they are
suspended in the air at least four feet
off the ground you can see the dust come
up off their sandals I saw a lot of boys
watching their big brothers jump trying
to jump as high as these Warriors
because they know that they’ll be doing
this soon as well
