I want people to be amazed at our world
to see things that they didn’t know
existed and to be excited enthusiastic
about about our planet I mean I kind of
a breakthrough about 15 years ago when I
started flying this crazy ultralight and
it gave me a way to see the world in a
way that I don’t think it really been
seen before it’s the world’s lightest
and slowest aircraft kind of like a big
leaf blower with a with like a kite
overhead and you squeeze the throttle
you run like health and is this like
there’s nothing there’s no fuselage
nothing hold on to here in a harness and
you’re just strapped into this you know
loud motor and it’s it’s quite it’s
quite frightening and then you get back
in the grenade oh I want to do that
again
I like being kind of low and slow it
renders the world differently you can
see in the distance but you see the
people and the cars you see the world
three dimensionally even very many
differences in position I can get a very
different feeling in a picture I get
kind of fearless with a camera I’ll go
on a goal places that I would never be
able to get to without it it’s it’s my
um excuse to go explore the world I want
to go further I want to see what’s over
the next hill even places I’ve been
before you go back and it’s like peeling
an onion you can peel back layers of
things and see them in a different way I
went stood a story on um on the Sonora
Desert and I went down this one little
road in Mexico must have been down that
road like a dozen times and every time I
went down I saw different things
I just kept finding different ways
looking at it and it was just endlessly
wonderful I believe in perspiration over
inspiration when I really take pride in
to the ones that really they’re really
difficult to get they’re really the hard
fought battles you have to go and you
have to look and look and look I mean
you look at ten things if I won that
works and when you really extend
yourself to the very limit of what was
possible and you got something special
that’s that’s a great moment when you go
out and sometimes things aren’t exactly
how you want them to be and yet to res
one well that’s just how they are I’m
not here to create the world I’m here to
document it many times I’ve taken a
picture and say jeez you know if it only
the Sun was a little bit brighter or
these clouds are really a problem and
sometimes I’ve gone back you know like
three or four or five times and I’ll
finally get it on a sunny day and said
jeez you know was more Nursing one was
cloudy you have to look at what’s in
front of you make it make the best what
you got
