what does it take to be an underwater
photographer we go to the ends of the
earth and then we go underwater what you
have to be is home in the sea and you
look around and if you’re happy in the
ocean if you’ve managed to have this
leap of faith and saying to yourself oh
my god I’m very intuitive and I’m down
at the bottom and the surface and I’m
breathing it’s an extraordinary thing
I’m breathing all underwater
photographers are on the front lines
we’re making pictures that have to
astound that have to open people’s eyes
to have to stop people to have to have
all the poetry and all the action and
all the drama that a still picture can
encapsulate we may be making pictures of
a time and a place that in the next two
generations may not exist anymore and
that’s frightening the fears are always
asking for one more thing one more place
to go one more picture to make in fact
that’s how we get into most of the most
trouble there’s always one more picture
just putting water just wait a minute
