here in the holy land Israelis and
Palestinians clash and two main fronts
the territories of Gaza and the West
Bank in the West Bank Palestinians
gather every week to protest against the
Israeli settlements
protesters throw rocks at the soldiers
who are there to protect the settlements
it’s basically we throw rocks as message
as involved as you say and we use this
occupation system it’s not considered a
weapon to a fully armed Israeli soldier
having live ammunition here little tear
gas canisters intend the soldiers use an
arsenal of weapons to disperse the
protest this one asleep well as banned
for wild stones this one especially
especially when they threw it it’s
change direction because if there’s
waterfalls mounted and it’s sweet
painful let’s get you especially in the
head security forces classify these
weapons as non-lethal but they can still
kill a protester was killed here just a
few weeks ago by a tear gas canister
that hit him in the head these photos
show the moment he was hit this is
actually the one so this one is yeah
this is what is the bottom of it I just
want to clear something down yeah okay
it’s only a little bit about the
background why we why you build protests
here well in Navasota home story started
the story of the supplements prostitute
is honey necessarily after they took
over the land they took it as a military
base and later became an actual
settlement and since then we start
expanded
expand supplement each other here the
protesters say that when the settlement
expanded it took control of a nearby
natural spring and now their village
isn’t allowed to access the water social
certification there’s no justice nation
you lose in the summer the supplier for
example they don’t feel you need
justification they just give with it
what they want
era and what did they want on lap
Moreland what’s your goal why why your
professor why do we do this week after
week because if we don’t then we’re just
passively the risk for says we can be
shot we could be in the tear gas range
and we are right in the middle of it
this is the danger zone some of the kids
are covering their head they wear these
masks to hide their identity from the
soldiers there’s uncle jihad I’ve done
there I’m protesting you say because
they killed what cellphone stuff I was
still just few weeks ago by a gas can
sir the town is only 500 people so when
somebody is killed everybody here knows
who they are
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
what the protesters will lose they try
to reach the spring through the mountain
it makes it also a bit more dangerous as
the military can surround you from two
areas we’re already being shot at by
feel good and we should back up
here’s one more shot of teargas you can
see it coming down and right in the
middle of the guys throwing stones who
are only about 70 80 meters from us oh
the kid takes the teargas and hits it
back toward the soldiers that is very
very very dangerous The effect of the
teargas eyes makes the feeling like it’s
suffocate makes you feel like you can’t
see makes you feel that you can’t to
breathe and even lose consciousness
sometimes it doesn’t feel good to be to
your guests it actually sucks you’re
gonna try to get closer with different
skill okay that wasn’t good that was
actually a bullet we’re gonna have to
move quicker out of here as the soldiers
almost got to move
[Music]
then we properly surround the town and
we’re gonna have to get out of we might
be stuck here with a curfew for the next
day protests have been held here every
Friday for the past three years every
week more young Palestinians are injured
or arrested by the young Israeli
soldiers sent here to stop them
[Music]
on the other side of Israel the conflict
is much more deadly militants in Gaza
launched rockets into Israel that
threaten thousands of civilians and
Israel can respond with crushing air
the strikes target militants but
civilian homes are hit as well this
wheelchair belonged to my neighbor she
was an old lady 85 years old she’s
innocent
of course she was killed by the Israeli
attack
and there is our home
[Music]
I am family we are the loop I work here
in Gaza this is my room I can’t believe
that I made it through – to tell you
this story
we were all sitting just having dinner
we did not hear anything we’d not feel
anything then I started to realize that
we are born I don’t know how I made it
through to walk to the street it was a
lot of dust a lot of dark and this is
the first time that I ever came here my
uncle’s home there were 10 killed people
I’m still afraid of this area of another
war of another attack I feel like I’m
not safe every day when the electricity
is gone
every day I I been I panic because for a
second I feel like it’s happening again
[Music]
when people only know each other through
these experiences they can only see each
other as enemies
[Music]
