accurate positions to find out that
right now we’re putting the antifouling
on there so it doesn’t get covered with
sea life and then affect the performance

between expeditions in their lab at the

revealed perilous migration tracks well

female tiger shark Cassandra is on the
move and vulnerable but she’s making
several movements outside the protected
waters because I think it’s only ten
nautical miles and that’s a big map now
so she’s now free game once once she
leaves that area the poachers are
slaughtering the sharks inside the park
can you imagine what’s going on outside
the park
in international waters it’s a catch-all
free-for-all mainly from long lines well

the real problem about long mining is
the magnitude of it there’s at least
here in Costa Rica in the whole Eastern
tropical Pacific there’s several
thousand he’s both set long lines it
could be anywhere from 15 to a hundred
miles long they can have from eight
hundred to five thousand hooks and when
you do the math and you figure out how
many hooks are out there every day
fishing then it gets kind of scary to
imagine one of these sharks or anybody’s
animals swimming by without tangling or
running into one of these and actually
biting the books getting tangled up in
long lines is a problem for ships too as
the shark man experienced firsthand on
the way to Coco’s well we got a long
long lining is so thick from the shark
finning industry in Costa Rica we got a
bunch of longline here underneath the
ship and
divert Dave’s down there trying to get
it off the bottom gear here it looks
like it’s hung up on a zinc if they
don’t cut it loose it could wrap up in
the propellers and disable the ship was
just another you know a lack of a better
word better terms slapped in the face
about you know what’s really going on
out there you know it’s not like there’s
just one or two long letters there’s
there’s a lot of long liners see if you
can get a hook on that just lower it
down right there and get the hook around
it they’re not seeing this rope Oh
giving them this so they wouldn’t they
could tie it on and we can pull it up
and you don’t need to tug on it a lot
just try to get that hook on it so that
if they let go of it it doesn’t drift
away
