2013 National Geographic Bee state

eighth grade and I go to the Rossi legio
middle school in Bedford which is a
small town in southern New Hampshire did
you know that the Segway is invented in
New Hampshire this to wield
battery-powered transporter was invented
by Dean Cayman who lives in my very own
home town of Bedford just 15 minutes
away from here is a town called dairy
this was the hometown of Alan Shepard
the very first American to travel into
space in the winter I ski for the Mount
Sunapee ski team which is an hour north
of Bedford the day after the New
Hampshire state be I participated in a
fun ski event called slush Cup this
event is where you ski down the trail
and skim across a large manmade pond
freezing water my friends and I formed a
group and dressed up as a teenage mutant
ninja turtles for the event we want a
prize for best costume and we all made
it across the pond unlike many others
in the beautiful white mountain region
behind me it’s not Washington Washington
at the heart speak in the Northeast for
76 years they held the record as the
world’s wendys clink one Swedes about to
231 miles per hour have been recorded
here now oxygen is also home to some of
the world’s worst weather Tuckerman
Ravine it’s a glacial search on Mount
Washington in the springtime skiers
hiker through beam and ski down
extremely steep slopes thousands of
springtime skiers have been known to ski
ravine in one single spring weekend now
Washington is also home to over the
world’s very first called railway it was
built 150 years ago is still in
operation today New Yorkers home to
world-class spheres such as bode miller
and mikaela shiffrin not too far from
here in the Mount Washington Valley
this is held in the Bretton Woods hotel
done stablished the International
Monetary Fund and the World Bank in the
fall I like to come to the white
mountains to hike and experience the
beautiful fall foliage some of my
favorite activities are acting
performing and playing the piano at the
Bedford youth performing company
swimming for the Manchester swim team
and skiing in my spare time I also love
to write fictional stories
if I were to travel any place in the
world I would definitely go to Greece or
go to the gorgeous beaches and islands
as well as visit the fascinating ancient
ruins
how do i cram all the information into
my brain well I use atlases maps huh
made flashcards and online quiz games I
also watched your own raphy movies and
keep up with current news
do you know why st. Johns River New
Brunswick Canada reverses course and
flows backwards 80 miles from its mouth
twice a day you don’t know well this is
because of the high tides from the Bay
of Fundy push the water backwards weird
right while studying geography I learned
a couple interesting facts one is up the
swiss guards in the vatican city still
wear uniforms that word signed by
michelangelo hundreds of years ago also
i learned that the town of evo aura in
nigeria has the highest twin birth rate
in the world the natives think this is
due to eating certain foods such as yams
if are in charge of the world for one
day I would help more girls in third
world countries get a better education
very few girls in these countries have
the opportunity to get a good education
due to limited resources so our try to
raise money and awareness for this issue
when I grow up I want to be a writer or
National Geographic Explorer so I could
visit the unique places our world has to
offer
you
