Neuro Robot | National Geographic

attached to the outside of the
International Space Station is a robotic
arm called canadarm2
it’s made of cutting-edge carbon fiber
and is powerful enough to lift an
arriving supply rocket yet agile enough
to change a circuit breaker thanks to a
robotic attachment called Dexter using a
complex series of joints this unique
robot has more range of movement than a
human arm
it’s an innovation that caught the eye
of pioneering brain surgeon doctor
Garnett Sutherland we saw that robot for
the International Space Station we knew
that a robot could be build that could
work inside a neurosurgical percival and
worked with the engineers who created in
Canada on two and dextra to build a
one-off robot for his operating room he
thinks this could be the future of brain
surgery robotics has the tremendous
advantage of merging the precision and
accuracy of a machine with the best of
whether that surgeon I can deliver
during surgery Demong halat is 33 years
old and this robot could save his life
Jamal suffers seizures when abnormal
blood vessels bleed into his brain I was
at work and a a head of severe headache
three days later I woke up and I just
didn’t know what happened
Jamal’s traumatic seizures could be
repaired with traditional surgery but
that kind could also harm his healthy
brain and impair his speech dr.
Sutherland believes surgery using his
robot is the safest option combining
that precision and accuracy with the
movement that the surgeon can deliver
provides Jamel with the best possible
outcome from his surgery
