the Internet is removing our hands from
most things other than the keyboard and
our thumbs as such so the tactile
experience of life I think is suffering
a bit in the face of the internet being
people’s portal to life and to
friendship it’s affected especially
people’s penmanship look at anyone
younger than 20 at their pendant show
you can you can’t even read it had to
write anything entire lives they just
push a button and the letter comes and

the typewriters hadn’t ever been around
but there was some point in your life
where you would write a letter to
someone by hand and that just doesn’t
happen anymore about how that might
affect enthusiasm for the universe
there’s always been pictures of Saturn
my favorite planet but there is no

of Saturn and they’ve seen who upon
looking through a telescope with their
own eyes at Saturn in space doesn’t have
their jaw drop and who is not otherwise
transformed by that experience so we
need to still bring people to telescopes
and telescopes to people but if the
internet gets them fluent even partially
fluent about the universe what exists
within it so that now they have the
occasion to go look at Saturn through a
telescope and want to do it
