hello my name is Joshua Vogel I’m
representing Missouri at the 2011
National Geographic Bee I live between
Cape Girardeau and Jackson in Southeast
Missouri I’m 14 and I go to school at
Trinity Lutheran School in cape
girardeau to the right here is the
Mississippi River across the Mississippi
River is Illinois it flows from
Minnesota in the north to the Gulf of
Mexico in the south the flood wall you
can see is here to my right which is
painted with several murals about the
history of Cape Girardeau Cape Girardeau
has a lot of history especially from the
Civil War this building behind me is the
port cape restaurant it has general
Grant’s headquarters for several months
during the union campaign to take over
the Mississippi River right behind me is
the common police court house it’s a
pretty old courthouse that house one of
the Dred Scott debates before the Civil
War here toward the south end of the
river wall we have a Hall of Fame
honoring many famous missourians
includes including President Truman Mark
Twain Sam usual Walt Disney and JC
Penney in that geo did you know that
Mark Twain was not born in hannibal
missouri he was born in florida which
was about 30 miles west Hannibal and
also rush limbaugh was born here in cape
girardeau one of the most famous
