Measure Twice | National Geographic

when it comes to detail Norman and his
crew know the value of the old adage
measure twice cut once if we would end
up with a different size house than what
was expected out there we would be
starting over didn’t think about that
your English grab a pair and i’ll set my
new years so they match hers of fitting
the logs you set two logs on top of each
other and you make that scribe follow
the contour of the lower log test scribe
doesn’t cut it you’re transferring the
shape of the log beneath right up onto
the next log and then cutting it out
will fit perfect marks the newest member
of the crew but he wields a chainsaw
like an old hand the chainsaw is the
artists tool we can do some amazingly
precision things with a chainsaw that I
never dreamed of before the key wielding
chainsaws and everything you just stay
focused concentrated and don’t drink too
much coffee it is quite important to cut
those notches pretty precisely if it’s
cut too small the log won’t sit down
tight on the next log it’s got too large
it will be loose and sloppy
yeah yeah looking good guys
