it is 1974 and baron rudolf von reading
dibber egg of Switzerland has travelled
nearly halfway around the world to go
bird-watching on Komodo steep hills make
the hiking rigorous Rudolf has trouble
keeping up with the others it’s the heat
source
he decides to rest in the shade of a
tree near the path telling the group to
continue without him they do so
promising to return shortly
just two hours later they return but
there’s no sign the baron
they searched the island extensively for
two days but never find him the only
traces that remain are a few of his
personal effects though no one can say
for sure what happened to the Baron many
believe that he was eaten by dragons
Komodo dragons are notorious scavengers
they often congregate at the site of
dead bodies and will eat nearly
everything bones foams forms even skulls
the lizard’s can consume up to 80
percent of their body weight in a matter
of minutes
except for large snakes no other meat
eater wastes so little of the animal its
eating even vultures leave a skeleton
behind
if the fatigue Baron had died of heat
exhaustion or some other element it’s
possible the lizards could have eaten
his remains before the group returned
they’ve been known to forage on human
corpses before
