death is part of living you know things
are dying constantly whether it’s a
small animal or a large animal or a tree
or a loved one it’s part of living out
here for me anyways
Sam Carlson’s roots run deep on Prince
of Wales Island at 56 years old he’s
watched generations come and go in the
little village he’s called home for most
of his life this is our wall of just old
timers folks that spent their lives
living out here there are some of these
people that were here when I was just a
little boy I can see their faces my
parents are up there this is my mom and
dad grandmas her old boat it’s nice to
see their faces because you forget these
people when you come down here you kind
of look at them and then you remember
him and I’ve got a addition to this wall
I’ve got to put up today kind of a tough
deal my my older brother
fit on the planet for 56 years I’ve had
some pretty near brushes with death who
looked at in the eye recently lost a
loved one this photograph was going up
in memory of my brother Lowell it’s
always good to see him he spent quite a
few years when he was younger out here
and it’s a little soon for me I I I’m
kind of still kind of sad
everything goes in cycles you’re born
you live you do what you can do and you
you know eventually you pass away you
could just call it the circle of life
you think good company well about time I
continued on with my day here get the
program in progress
