14 in pregnant this teenage lemon shark
has a secret rendezvous in a remote spot
in the Bermuda Triangle dozens of sharks
converge on these mysterious shallows in
the middle of the Bahamas
this many top predators together usually
means one thing but this is no feeding
frenzy

she’s come from more than 150 kilometers
away
most of the sharks here are female like
her many are pregnant no one knows for
sure why they come here
as spring approaches instinct sends them
on their way
this female returns to where she was
born 14 years ago what happens next has
rarely been seen
a baby is born

females are quick to leave their pups
and head to deeper water

they’ll spend their first three years
here
before they’re old enough to leave the
safety of the man roofs
